No one wants to upstage the bride and groom on their wedding day, but when it’s a beloved star, it feels more like a gift than a photobomb. A New York City bride and groom got an unforgettable surprise during their wedding photoshoot: a sweet, unexpected cameo from “Succession” star Kieran Culkin.
A Celebrity Photo-Bomber?!
Photographer Stephanie Naru captured the viral moment while shooting Jess and Dave Tozer’s May 2 elopement.
The couple exchanged vows in the garden at St. Luke in the Fields in the West Village before heading to Central Park for more portraits.
“In the last frame you’ll see Kieran Culkin accidentally photobomb J&D in one of their photos on the Central Park mall—only in NY. ❤️,” Naru wrote on Instagram.
Photographer Didn’t Realize Until Later
Speaking to People magazine, Naru admitted she didn’t notice Culkin at the time. “I had my eyes on Jess and Dave and had no idea Kieran was in the background of their photos,” she said.
It wasn’t until Jess mentioned spotting him that Naru scrolled back through her shots. “That’s when I checked back through the photos and sure enough, there he was!” she recalled.
Calling it “such a New York moment,” Naru said the actor’s unexpected appearance made the couple’s day—and her own portfolio—extra special. “The photos were already so meaningful… Having Kieran accidentally photobomb just made the day all the more fun and memorable for us all!”
Groom Has Celebrity Connections of His Own
While the celebrity photobomb was a surprise, the groom is no stranger to famous faces. Dave Tozer is a Grammy-winning music producer and songwriter who’s worked with some of the biggest names in music, including playing a key role in John Legend’s hit “All of Me.” Legend himself left a sweet comment on the couple’s wedding post: “Congratulations! Beautiful!”
A Love Story Years in the Making
People reported that Jess and Dave met three years ago on the exclusive dating app Raya and got engaged in Dubrovnik, Croatia, in the summer of 2023. Wanting something “deeply personal” for their wedding day, they chose an intimate elopement.
After their vows, the couple took photos around their West Village neighborhood before heading to Central Park, where Culkin unknowingly added a viral twist to their day. They ended the night with a cozy dinner with close family.
“The day was already perfect—but then, in true New York fashion, Kieran Culkin unexpectedly photobombed one of our wedding shots,” the newlyweds told People magazine. “The picture went viral, and what was already an unforgettable day became an even more surreal and joyful memory.”
It was indeed a picture-perfect New York moment the couple will cherish forever.
