Kelly Osbourne Gives Fragile Update on Losing Her ‘Best Friend’

Kelly Osbourne took to her Instagram stories two days after her father Ozzy’s death to pen an emotional tribute. “I feel unhappy I am so sad. I lost the best friend I ever had,” she wrote along with a broken heart emoji.

The words are especially meaningful as they are the opening lyrics from the Black Sabbath song “Changes.” The song was originally recorded by the band in 1972, but in 2003 Ozzy and Kelly recorded an updated version as a duet. The father-daughter song was a hit, reaching the no. 1 spot in the U.K.

A Shocking Loss for Kelly

Just a few weeks before Ozzy Osbourne’s death at age 76, Kelly posted a series of photos from his band Black Sabbath’s farewell concert. “To say that yesterday was magic was an understatement! I can’t even [write] this without tears streaming down my face!” she captioned the carousel of pics.

“Thank you to everyone who came to support my dad,” she continued. “Thank you to the fans who without we are nothing! My dad got his moment in the sun! He was able to say thank you and good bye in the most beautiful way!”

Ozzy’s farewell tour was special for Kelly for another reason as well. Her partner and father of her 2-year-old son Sidney Wilson of the band Slipknot proposed while backstage at one of the shows. The sweet moment was captured on video and Ozzy can be heard joking around in the background, clearly very happy for his daughter.

Kelly’s Son & Ozzy Were Also Best Pals

Following Ozzy’s passing on July 22, his family released a statement that read, “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.”

“He was with his family and surrounded by love,” the statement concluded. “We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”

Ozzy was the father of 6 children and the grandfather of 10. But he and Kelly’s son Sidney shared a very special bond. “Oh my God, they’re best friends,” she shared with People in May.

She added that Sidney’s favorite thing was watching TV with Ozzy and her mom, Sharon Osbourne. “… he goes and gets in bed with them and they have cartoon time together and it is the sweetest thing ever. I have to literally rip him out,” Kelly said.
