“With an open heart, I wish to share with the world that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer,” Kelly wrote.

“Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans. His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible… We are grateful for the memories.”

McMahon is survived by his wife and daughter, Madison “Maddy” McMahon.

From Prime Minister’s Son to TV Star

Born in Sydney on July 27, 1968, Julian was the son of Billy McMahon, who briefly served as Prime Minister of Australia from 1971 to 1972.

McMahon began his career in modeling before transitioning into acting with the 1989 Australian soap opera “The Power and the Passion”.

He went on to star in “Home and Away” (1990–91) and made his film debut alongside Elliott Gould in “Wet and Wild Summer” in 1992.

Julian’s Hollywood Breakout With ‘Profiler’ and ‘Charmed’

Julian’s Hollywood career launched with NBC’s “Another World” in 1993, followed by a regular role in the crime drama Profiler.

However, it was his chilling and charismatic portrayal as the demonic Cole Turner on “Charmed” that made him a fan favorite.

Nip/Tuck Cemented His Status as a TV Icon

McMahon’s breakthrough came when he played the slick, seductive plastic surgeon Dr. Christian Troy on “Nip/Tuck“. The FX hit, created by Ryan Murphy, ran for six seasons and earned McMahon a Golden Globe nomination.

“I’m stunned,” co-star Dylan Walsh told Deadline. “All those years you had my back, and my god, we laughed. My heart is with you. Rest in peace.”

Julian brought Marvel’s infamous villain Victor Von Doom to life in 2005’s “Fantastic Four” and its 2007 sequel. He continued his string of major roles with “Premonition”, “RED”, and “Paranoia”.

On TV, he led “FBI: Most Wanted” as Jess LaCroix for three seasons before exiting the show in 2022.

“All of us at Wolf Entertainment are deeply saddened by Julian’s passing,” FBI creator Dick Wolf said. “Our condolences go out to his entire family.”

In a poignant twist of fate, Julian McMahon’s final acting credit brought him back to his roots—playing the Australian Prime Minister in Netflix’s murder mystery series, “The Residence.”

He also recently starred opposite Nicolas Cage in “The Surfer”, which premiered at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.

“He was the most talented of actors,” Cage said. “Julian is one of my favorite people… My love to his family.”
