The hit anime “Jujutsu Kaisen” just premiered a new compilation movie in Japan on May 30 called “Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory/Premature Death.” Fans who watched the movie revealed that new scenes and photos we didn’t get to see in the anime were added to the movie, and some of those extra moments made them cry. One of the new scenes was a picture of Gojo gazing at Geto’s face while he slept, one fan shared.
Photos of the Characters Happy in High School Were Revealed at the End of the Movie
On X, @crimson_styx wrote that they won tickets to see the movie’s premiere in Japan. The voice actors greeted fans, and at the end of the movie, photos from Geto and Gojo’s high school life were shown on the screen. It was bittersweet, since we know how tragically things ended up for them.
Taroootan replied, “The HS images at the end made me tear up so badly!! I hope they release goods with those images..”
@Santadaysx shared a photo of the pictures flashing on the movie screen at the end.
On TikTok, yazy saw the movie too and said that they showed about 40 to 50 new photos at the end.
She said: “Some of them were supposed to be like digital photos, some were supposed to be taken on like a disposable camera, they were really filtered to look like a disposable camera… It was the most heartbreaking yet also adorable thing I’ve ever seen in my entire life.”
She said a lot of photos showed them out of school in their street clothes, including Suguru Geto looking “very fashionable and very happy,” a sunset photo of Gojo taken by Geto (“you can see Suguru’s shadow taking the photo”), “there is also in fact one of Satoru watching Suguru sleep longingly,” and one where Suguru was sitting on the floor reading and “Satoru was curled up on the floor beside him sleeping like a cat.”
“A lot of smiling Suguru,” she said. “I cannot understate how much smiling Suguru there is.”
Yazy added that to keep the PG-12 rating, they had to censor some things in the movie, including turning some scenes with blood into black-and-white scenes.
The Photos Were Shown While the New Acoustic Version of the Theme Song Played
On X, @Go_Jover shared that the pictures were shown while the new acoustic version of the theme song played in the background. They broke down some of the photos that were shared, which we’re quoting below:
- “Begins with Gojo & Shoko graduation pic
- Gojo Geto Shoko Nanami Haibara pic of them playing soccer
- Group pic of everyone having meals at someone’s home
- Pic of Gojo gazing at Geto’s face who’s asleep
- Pic of Gojo Geto making weird faces at each other
- Pic of Gojo Geto Shoko in a hotel room
- Some single pics of Geto
- Ends with Gojo Geto Shoko entrance ceremony pic in which Shoko’s in the middle & Gojo Geto are looking other way (as if they had a fight n angry at each other).”
Go_Jover also shared some close-ups of some of the pictures. One, they said, may have shown Nanami and Haibara on the Okinawa beach trip.
And Go_Jover wrote about another photo, “UTAHIME SHOKO MEI MEI.”
Taroootan on X saw the movie and wrote, “They added so many extra scenes to the movie which gave so much new context. The end roll was so sad though and made me tear up a lot…”
Hints Were Dropped About What to Expect Before the Movie Premiered
Even before the short released, the official Jujutsu Kaisen website gave us a hint of what to expect in the form of a teaser photo, shared below.

And Takahiro Sakurai, the Japanese voice actor for Suguru Geto, talked with Gamer (later translated by CBR) about what was in that scene.
Sakurai said: “That [scene] was so unfair! It shared Gojo, Geto and [their other friend] Shoko watching a movie, and although it wasn’t shown in the film, it was like peeking into a moment of their youth, thinking, ‘There must have been a day when the three of them watched a movie together like this.’ I thought the production team was really cruel for creating such an emotional scene.”
The movie will release in U.S. theaters on July 16, 2025. Fans will get the choice of watching it in dub or sub versions, according to GKIDS’ press release.
The movie is a compilation of the Hidden Inventory/Premature Death five-episode arc that aired on Crunchyroll, featuring Geto and Gojo’s younger years, and Geto’s subsequent heartbreaking fall.
