Jonathan Bailey is back in the spotlight promoting “Jurassic World: Rebirth”, but Bridgerton fans still have one burning question: Will Anthony Bridgerton return in Season 4?

In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bailey didn’t just hint at a major Season 4 spoiler — he also revealed why he nearly skipped his original audition for Netflix’s beloved Regency-era drama.
Why Jonathan Bailey Almost Didn’t Audition for ‘Bridgerton’
Back in 2018, Bailey had just wrapped up a six-month run in the musical Company when the opportunity to audition for Bridgerton came his way.
“I got sent it and I nearly didn’t audition,” he told THR. “At that time, I was really done. I just needed to go and experience the world.”
Initially, Bailey read for the role of the Duke — a part that eventually went to Regé-Jean Page. However, after meeting with producers, he landed the role of Anthony instead.
Jonathan Bailey Says ‘Bridgerton’ Fame Happened Quicker Than He Was Prepared For
Filming on Bridgerton began just before the world shut down due to the pandemic. Bailey shared how immersive the process became.

“When you go and film something like Bridgerton, and you say goodbye to your friends, your family, it’s all-encompassing,” he said.
Reflecting on how quickly the show catapulted into a phenomenon, Bailey added, “I read an interview with Walton Goggins where he was saying he was glad that even now White Lotus didn’t happen to him 10 years ago because he wouldn’t have known what to do with that. And I just feel that maybe Bridgerton was just a smidge quicker than I was prepared for. Going back to theater, working with people that I know, that has helped.”
Jonathan Bailey Says He’ll Never Walk Away From ‘Bridgerton’
Even as his career continues to soar — with roles like “Jurassic World: Rebirth on the horizon” — Jonathan Bailey made it crystal clear that his heart still belongs to Bridgerton. “I’ve never been someone who’s like, ‘Thanks, bye.’ It’s not in my nature. There’s a real sense of brotherly pride I feel in it,” he said.

Bailey acknowledged that there may be a time when scheduling or storyline changes could limit his appearances in future seasons, but he remains committed to the series and his castmates.
“There may be a future season when the scheduling doesn’t work or the storyline may not require Anthony,” he said. “I look forward to, in another however many years, when we’ve done the eighth season to sit around and be like, ‘Look what we all did together.’”
He added, “I know how much I love long-running series. I know how important familiarity of character and story and consistency is in these long-running series.”
Jonathan Bailey Teases ‘Bridgerton’ Season 4 Spoiler — Here’s What to Expect Next
‘Bridgerton’ Season 3 brought plenty of swoon-worthy moments, including Colin and Penelope’s long-awaited romance. Now, fans are eager for what’s next in Season 4.
And Jonathan Bailey just gave them a little something to buzz about.
“I was filming a wedding on a Monday morning,” he revealed. “People know that people get married in Bridgerton — that’s not a spoiler, right?”
While Bailey didn’t drop any names, it sounds like more romance (and drama) is definitely on the horizon when ‘Bridgerton’ returns for Season 4.
