Star Expected to Recover From Injury During Filming of Tom Cruise Movie: Report

Actor John Goodman was injured while working on the set of a new movie that also stars Tom Cruise, according to Deadline. However, production is expected to resume soon after his “full recovery,” the site reported.

“Actor John Goodman experienced a hip injury. He received immediate medical attention that led to a brief delay in shooting to allow him time to recover. The production resumes shooting next week following John’s full recovery,” Warner Brothers’ spokesperson told Deadline.

Goodman was injured during production of the Alejandro González Iñárritu movie, which is filming in the United Kingdom, according to Deadline. The film doesn’t have a title yet, according to TMZ.

TMZ reported that Goodman is filming the movie with actor Tom Cruise.

According to Deadline, Goodman’s injury was described as “minor.”

The site reported that Goodman, 72, “slipped during the past week while blocking a scene at the UK’s Pinewood Studios.”

TMZ reported that Goodman “fell while on set, but it was not related to a stunt.” The actor “hurt his hip, but he is on the mend and will be back shooting next week,” TMZ added.

Actor Jesse Plemons is also attached to the film, according to IMDb. It notes that Warner Brothers and Legendary Entertainment are producing the movie, which is expected to hit theaters in fall 2026. The director is an Academy Award-winning film director, according to IMDb.

According to Page Six, Goodman has suffered a series of challenges in his life recently. He was among the celebrities who lost his home in the wildfire that struck Pacific Palisades, California, according to Page Six. According to Realtor.com, Goodman listed a separate home he owns in New Orleans, Louisiana, for sale just weeks after his California home burned to the ground.

Goodman and his wife Anna Beth Goodman primarily lived in the New Orleans residence, Realtor.com reported. Goodman had used the Pacific Palisades residence when he needed to be in the Los Angeles area for work reasons, Realtor.com reported.
