Jennifer Aniston is working overtime on her passion project to remake the 1980 classic “9 to 5.” And she has some big ideas about the three actresses she sees in the main roles.

Jennifer Aniston’s “9 to 5” remake of the 45-year-old blockbuster is shaping up to be star-studded. That is if the actress and producer gets her way.

“The Morning Show” and “Friends” star is said to be pursuing Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney and Ariana Grande to take on the roles originated by Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Dolly Parton.

According to Life & Style, a source close to Aniston says, “With another season of The Morning Show in the can, Jen is focused on getting her 9 to 5 remake in shape, and it’s looking increasingly like Jen will be starring in the film in addition to producing it.”

But Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney and Ariana Grande may be difficult to nail down for the three lead roles.

The same Life & Style source says, “Sydney and Zendaya are heavily booked for the next twelve months and Jen wants to make this movie next year if she can. The 9 to 5 remake isn’t technically greenlit yet, but getting a ‘yes’ from one of these actresses, and making them permanent members of ‘Team Aniston’ is the key step that Jen is undertaking right now.”

Original Stars Support Aniston’s “9 to 5” Remake

What Aniston won’t have a hard time getting is the support of the original trio who played three co-workers who join forces to get revenge on a sexist boss. When Aniston announced the project last year, actress Lily Tomlin told Variety “We hope she has great success. It’s a hard nut to crack because the issues are somewhat different.” In the same interview, Jane Fonda said, ““I hope she does it. There’s still the undercurrent of the same kind of negativity towards females … [they’re] not easy-to-solve issues. So we’re very eager to see what they do.”

And Dolly Parton went a step further, saying she’d love to appear in the film. Parton told E! “I’m hoping they use my song and I’m hoping they might find a way to have Lily, Jane and me come back in.”

Oscar-winning “Juno” screenwriter Diablo Cody is writing the screenplay, which reportedly brings the story into the current day. While the script is said to be well-underway, no plot details have been released.
