Jason Biggs Reveals the Health Issue That Motivated Him to Lose 35 Pounds

If American Pie star Jason Biggs is looking much more fit and trim than he has in a few years, there’s a good reason. “I had some cholesterol issues,” he told Page Six at the City Harvest Gala in New York City on Tuesday. He joked that the issue was “Probably because of the … ice cream pints I would knock back.” However, after making some significant changes to his lifestyle, he successfully lost 35 pounds.

Jason Biggs Shares How He Shed Weight and Cut Cholesterol By 70 Points

“I was eating crap,” Biggs admitted to the Daily Mail. The 46-year-old actor had been trying to lower his cholesterol and lose weight for several years. “It’s been a journey,” he said. “My cholesterol came down 70 points.”

He also acknowledged that stress was an added factor to his weight gain. ‘A part of it was I directed my first movie,” he said. “Probably the most stressed I’ve ever been in my life, professionally anyway. So that contributed a little bit.”

However, it was the last year and a half that he finally saw a difference, when he discovered a fitness activity he truly enjoyed. “I bike ride, I bike a lot. I go up the West Side Highway to New Jersey. It’s one of my favorite things to do,’ he said.

He hasn’t completely given up his love of ice cream, though, which he still indulges in on occasion. “At 11 pm when everyone’s in bed and I’m a little hungry I’m not going to go in and have a thing of seaweed. I want something much less healthy than that.”

The ‘American Pie’ Star Would Like To Try Ozempic — But Not for Weight Loss

Biggs has been vocal about the struggles he had with alcoholism and the fact that he’s been sober since 2017. In 2024, he appeared on his wife, Jenny Mollen’s, podcast, All The Fails, and discussed in detail how he had hidden his drinking from her.

“I knew how to get wasted enough to where I took myself out of the life equation, took myself out of the present, didn’t have to connect in a way that made me feel things,” he told Mollen. “I had it figured out to a T. To not get too drunk where I couldn’t have a conversation with you.”

When it comes to Ozempic and other weight loss drugs, Biggs doesn’t even consider using them for that purpose. He’s very interested in using it to help manage his addictions.

“Yeah, I mean, why not? I’ve heard nothing but good things. I’ve actually heard – because I’m sober alcoholic – I heard it has benefits for that which would make sense,’ he told the Daily Mail.

“Like it helps cravings because it’s sort of the same part of the brain I guess,” he continued. “It’s a mind thing but it’s also a stomach thing. I don’t know but it makes sense to me that there have been some studies that show that it actually helps with addiction issues. So that’s super super cool. That’s something I’m very passionate about so if it can help addicts and alcoholics then [expletive] yeah!’ Biggs said.
