Rosie O’Donnell Reveals Big Move To Foreign Country & Why She’s Quitting TikTok

Fans of Rosie O’Donnell who have been wondering about the former talk show host’s whereabouts no longer have to wait.

The media personality, who hosted “The Rosie O’Donnell Show” for 6 seasons from 1996 to 2002, according to IMDb, posted a TikTok video on March 11, 2025, to share a major announcement with her fans and followers.

She humorously began the video, “Well hey everybody, it’s me, Rosie O’Donnell, star of “The Flintstones,” before dropping the news of her new location with, “I’m here in Ireland.”

Rosie O’Donnell Revealed What Life In Ireland Is Like

O’Donnell started her update by describing her new home as “beautiful and warm,” although she pointed out her new location is “physically quite cold.”

“I moved here on January 15,” revealed the mother of five. “It’s been pretty wonderful, I have to say. The people are so loving and so kind, so welcoming. And I’m very grateful.”

O’Donnell dropped another announcement, saying, “I’m in the process of getting my Irish citizenship.” The plan came together because she has Irish grandparents, explained the former talk show host.

“That’s what’s going on. That’s where I’ve been, and what I’ve been doing,” she said.

O’Donnell went on to say the big move came as a surprise, even to herself. She also told fans she took her youngest son along for the journey.

“Although I was never someone who thought I would move to another country, that’s what I decided would be the best for myself and my 12-year-old child.” she shared, referring to her youngest daughter, Dakota.

Dakota was adopted by O’Donnell and her late ex-wife, Michelle Rounds, in 2013, according to People. The outlet says she shares four other children, all now adults, with ex-wife Kelli Carpenter.

“Here we are,” she concluded.

Why Rosie O’Donnell Wants To Quit TikTok

After discussing life in Ireland, O’Donnell told her 2.5 million followers that she wants to leave the popular app, due to TikTok becoming “a little bit dark and negative for me.”

She revealed that she’s trying to a different social media platform, Substack, but is facing a bit of a learning curve, saying, “I think I like it there. It’s hard to learn. If the Substack people are listening you really need a more user-friendly app. It’s really difficult to even find where you post,” the star laughed.

O’Donnell said she doesn’t care for Facebook, finding it too difficult, but felt adjusting to TikTok was “a cinch.” She seems determined to keep trying on Substack, saying she appreciates the app for its focus on “writing and photographs.”
