Congratulations are in order for Max Verstappen!

Ahead of the Miami Grand Prix, the four-time world champion welcomed his first child with his girlfriend Kelly Piquet. The Formula 1 driver announced the news in an Instagram post.

“Welcome to the world, sweet Lily 🌸 Our hearts are fuller than ever – you are our greatest gift. We love you so much 💗,” Verstappen captioned the post.

Verstappen and Piquet began dating in 2020 after Piquet’s split from F1 driver Daniil Kvyat. Piquet and Kvyat share a child, Penelope, who was born in July 2019.

In December 2024, Piquet announced that she and Verstappen were expecting on Instagram.

“Mini Verstappen-Piquet on the way ❤️,” Piquet wrote. “We couldn’t be happier with our little miracle 💫”

Piquet is also the daughter of three-time world champion Nelson Piquet.

People rushed to the comments section on Verstappen’s post announcing the birth of his first child.

Nico Hülkenberg Gives Max Verstappen Some Advice

Verstappen is joining the dad club!

Sauber driver Nico Hülkenberg is the only other F1 driver on the grid to be a father, and on Thursday, he gave Verstappen some advice.

“It was a fun fact that I was the only one since Checo and K-Mag left at the end of last year, I was the only dad. So yeah, he’s joining that club,” Hülkenberg said. “I hope it’s a good sleeper. We’ve been quite fortunate and lucky.


Max Verstappen Missed Media Day Ahead of Miami GP

Ahead of the birth of his daughter, Verstappen missed the May 1st media session for the Miami Grand Prix to be with Piquet.

Red Bull released a statement that same day, saying he would miss his pre-race media sessions. But, he is still expected to race and is set to return for the opening practice session.

ESPN reported that the statement said “all is well” and asked for “respect towards the privacy of Max and his family.”
