E! News Canceled After 34 Years

After 34 years on air, E! News is coming to an end as a nightly television show. The long-running entertainment program will officially air its final episode on Sept. 25, 2025, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show originally launched in 1991 and briefly went on hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic before returning in 2022. Going forward, the brand will live on exclusively in the digital space.

Employees were notified of the cancellation on the morning of July 24. Tonight’s broadcast will be a repeat, with new episodes resuming next week until the show wraps in September. The current iteration of E! News, hosted by Keltie Knight and Justin Sylvester, airs at 11:30 p.m. and employs roughly 20 staffers.

The decision to end the linear show comes as part of a larger restructuring under Versant, a newly launched media company formed out of NBCUniversal’s cable and digital assets. While E! News will continue across social platforms, the TV program itself will no longer be part of E!’s on-air lineup.

Digital Growth Now a Top Priority

Versant, the new parent company that now oversees E!, made the call to cancel E! News as it aims to prioritize digital-first entertainment coverage. Deadline reports that E! News has experienced significant engagement growth on social media, with video views up 49% on Instagram and 52% on TikTok in recent months. The brand currently reaches around 87 million followers across platforms.

Digital shows like “The Rundown” on Snapchat, “Hot Goss” on Instagram, and “RE!CAP” on YouTube will remain part of the content slate. This shift reflects changing viewer habits, as more consumers rely on mobile and social media for real-time celebrity news.

Some correspondents from the linear version of E! News are expected to transition into new roles within Versant, though exact positions have yet to be determined. The company is still in its early stages and includes a mix of legacy networks and digital brands.

E! Network Programming Remains Unaffected

While E! News is ending its nightly TV run, other programs on the E! network will continue as planned. Access Hollywood and Access Daily remain on the schedule and are not impacted by the cancellation.

E! also continues to air a mix of original and acquired series, including “Botched Presents: Plastic Surgery Rewind” and “Honestly Cavallari: The Headline Tour”. Upcoming premieres include “Kimora: Back in the Fab Lane and “E!’s Dirty Rotten Scandals”. The network is also expected to maintain its red carpet coverage under the “Live From E!” banner, with “The Critics Choice Awards” scheduled to air on E! on Jan. 4, 2026, per reports.
