“Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson has passed away at the age of 79. The reality star’s family announced the sad news on social media on Sunday, May 25, months after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.
Phil’s diagnosis was first made public on December 6, 2024, during an episode of the “Unashamed with the Robertson Family” podcast. At the time, Jase Robertson confirmed that his father was in the “early stages” of the disease.
Phil’s Alzheimer’s progressed quickly and caused problems with his body. Jase noted that he’s dad was “just not doing well” and that he’s “really struggling.”
By April 2025, Jase revealed that Phil’s condition had worsened and his prognosis was not looking good. He added:
We’re making him comfortable, and we’re doing the best we can. I think that’s just what you do.
Family Leads Tributes For The Beloved ‘Duck Dynasty’ Star
Meanwhile, heartfelt tributes celebrating the life of Phil poured in on social media. His son Jase shared on X, “My dad has gone to be with the Lord today! He will be missed but we know he is in good hands, and our family is good because God is very good! We will see him again!”
Phil’s other son, Willie Robertson, and his wife Korie wrote, “We celebrate today that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord.”
The “Duck Dynasty” star’s granddaughter, Sadie Robertson Huff, cited the bible verse 2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV, recalling his last moments with them, “It was his testimony that changed his life, our families life, and thousands of others. Now he is experiencing it in the fullness. Fully alive in Christ. The new has come. One of the last things he said to me was ‘full strength ahead!’ Amen!”
Fans Celebrate Phil’s Legacy
Meanwhile, fans also showered Phil with touching tributes celebrating his legacy. One fan wrote, “He is a great example of what a man should be. Make mistakes, learn from them, turn to God and put your trust in him. Turned out pretty good.”
Another commented, “I can’t think of a man more excited for to meet his Savior and the line of people already there because of his faithfulness. Praying for you all.”
A user added, “If I can be 1/4 of the man Phil was, I can be proud of my life in the end. Hugs to all your family, but we all know he is now in Paradise with our Father. Heaven gained another true Saint today.”
The family is planning a private service for Phil at this time, with details of a public celebration of his life to be shared soon.
