Season two of of “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders” is bringing a whole new set of dramas to Netflix!
But fans may be wondering what happened to one of the cheerleaders featured heavily in season one. Fans got to know fourth-year “vet” Victoria Kalina well during the first season, as she struggled to find her place on the team.
Victoria was transparent with the camera, revealing a history of eating disorders and depression that she overcame. And difficulty with connecting with other cheerleaders, which she did not overcome.
Still, the 25-year-old dancer shocked viewers in the final episode of season one when she decided not to audition for a fifth year on the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders team. She also shocked herself with that decision, changing her mind after a conversation with DCC leadership Kelli Finglass and Judy Trammel. The director and choreographer told her a leadership role on the cheer team was unlikely.
“Yes, I could prove them wrong and yes I would love to, but I don’t need to,” she said in the season finale. “I know I proved them, like, over and over, time and time again. I don’t need to do it again.”
Victoria told Glamour, “I was fully ready to step into season five for my veteran year. I had my audition song ready to go, I had my trip planned for choreography, I had everything set and ready, I had my costume designed. It was all on track.”
But far from dwelling on the past, Victoria has shifted her focus now to a new dream. She wants to become a Rockette at New York City’s famed Radio City Music Hall.
Former DCC Victoria Sets Her Sights on Becoming a Rockette
Former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Victoria Kalina announced her plans to move to the Big Apple and pursue her dream of becoming a Radio City Rockette in a video on her YouTube Channel.
“I’ve always known that after cheering for the Cowboys I wanted to continue my dance journey in New York City,” Kalina said in the video. “That is what I’m going to do. I’m just going to hop in and train my little hiney off. I’ve always admired and wanted to be a Rockette, so I’m gonna train for that.”
“I know it’s a very competitive and rigorous audition process,” she went on. “I am going to put in that work, but I’m also going to be so open to any and all opportunities that are out there. And, who knows? I might find a Broadway show that I love, I might find something else that I love. I might go up there and hate it, but I don’t think that’s going to happen.”
Victoria Kalina Takes Followers Along on Rockette Audition Process
Former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Victoria Kalina moved to New York City last July and started training and taking classes. She took fans along on both her Instagram account and YouTube channel, posting videos of Rockettes workshops and life in New York City.
Victoria auditioned for the Rockettes in April, but sadly, did not make the cut. Still, she is undeterred. In an Instagram post after tryouts, she wrote, “✨SPECTACULAR✨ If I had to give a word for the past 10 months living in my dream city – that would be it. Spectacular moments, spectacular friends and people all around, spectacular dancing and a spectacular experience to keep the momentum going🎄🫶🏼 This year is a ‘not now’ for the Rockettes but I can’t wait to continue to push this next year and continue to see what other spectacular things unravel in this magical city🤩 Cheers to all who have supported me on this new journey into the big apple 🍎 I love y’all!💕🥰”
According to People, Victoria remains in NYC. She’s both taking and teaching dance classes, auditioning for Broadway shows and training for another try at the Rockettes.
And she’s not spending any time on regrets.
“I feel as though I am right where I am supposed to be,” Victoria told Glamour. “New York City and everything that has come together so far has been just so smooth. It’s meant to be.”
