Colin Jost : Dumpster Diver for Love

When it comes to true love, it seems no price is too high for Colin Jost. The “Saturday Night Live” comedian will go to any lengths for his wife of five years, Scarlett Johansson.

Case in point: Jost recently revealed that he went dumpster diving when Johansson thought she had thrown away her engagement ring by accident. While hosting an episode of “Pop Culture Jeopardy!” on Amazon Prime Video, Jost said when 40-year-old Johansson told him the ring might be in the trash, he leapt into action. “I looked through 12 dumpsters of trash,” he said on the game show. Sadly, he had no luck finding his wife’s ring.

Colin Jost then shared the story’s hilarious plot twist. “I went back to the house and she said, ‘Oops! It was in my pocket,’ ” he said, smiling, “It was a great day for me.”

Scarlett Johansson Sings Husband’s Praises

The pair, who got married in October 2020, have a 3-year-old son, Cosmo, along with the actress’ daughter Rose Dorothy, 10, from her previous marriage to ex Romain Dauriac.

And while Scarlett Johansson might not be diving into any dumpters for him, the actress is quick to express her adoration for Jost. In a November 26 appearance on “Live with Kelly and Mark,” she described her husband as “a very, very, very great guy.”

“I’m extremely lucky,” she gushed. “He’s a kind person and he’s hilarious and thoughtful and loving and he’s a great dad and I love him. I feel very, very lucky.”

Johansson says Jost threw her a massive 40th birthday party with a guest list of friends and family so extensive, she felt like it was an episode of “This Is Your Life.”

On Gwyneth Paltrow’s “Goop‘ podcast in April 2023, Johansson revealed the “fundamental” secret to her happy marriage with Jost.

“I didn’t know what I wanted or needed from somebody else,” she told Paltrow. “I never realized, ‘Oh, it’s really important for me, I need to be with a compassionate person. That’s a fundamental characteristic that has to be there. And I think that understanding what those fundamental things are that you need in a partner is a must, I think — for longevity, anyway. I think identifying those things was a game-changer for me.”

Johansson Helps Jost Celebrate SNL’s 50th Anniversary

When “Saturday Night Live” celebrated its 50th Anniversary with a three-hour special February 16, Johansson did more than just show up to cheer Jost on. She was featured in several skits on the show.

And no wonder! The pair began dating in 2017 May 2017 after she hosted SNL for the fifth time.
