According to TMZ, the guitarist was at the Majestic Theatre at the time of the event. Several reports indicated that medical experts suspected the cause of the emergency was dehydration. While hospitalized, he remained under observation as of early Tuesday, April 22, according to his representative. Despite the scare, the rep added that Santana is “doing well.”

Santana’s longtime manager, Michael Vrionis, shared an update on Facebook to keep fans informed.

“It is with profound disappointment that I have to inform you all that tonight’s show in San Antonio has been postponed,” Vrionis wrote. “Mr. Santana was at the venue (Majestic Theatre) preparing for tonight’s show when he experienced an event that was determined to be dehydration.”

He continued, “Out of an abundance of caution and the health of Mr. Santana, the decision to postpone the show was the most prudent course of action. He is doing well and is looking forward to coming back to San Antonio soon as well as continuing his U.S. tour.”

Future Tour Dates Under Review

Just hours before being hospitalized, Santana posted on social media to thank fans who had attended a recent performance despite cold and rainy weather. “Your warmth and passion lit up the night more than any spotlight ever could,” he wrote. “It was truly an honor to share our heart’s music with you.”

Santana’s team assured fans that the postponed San Antonio show would be rescheduled and encouraged ticketholders to hold on to their passes until a new date is announced.

As of now, there have been no additional cancellations. The 77-year-old is still scheduled to perform on Wednesday in Sugar Land, Texas, as part of his ongoing Oneness Tour 2025.

Santana is a celebrated guitarist, being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame along with his band in 1998, and has won 10 Grammy Awards and three Latin Grammy Awards. In 2023, Rolling Stone named him the 11th greatest guitarist of all time, creating legendary hits such as “Maria Maria,” “Smooth,” “Oye Como Va,” and “Evil Ways.” His signature fusion of rock, Latin, and jazz influences has shaped generations of music fans around the world.
