The “Jurassic World” actress recently shared the story, recalling how the moment shaped her understanding of celebrity life.

Howard, the daughter of Oscar-winning director Ron Howard, grew up surrounded by Hollywood legends. Despite her proximity to the entertainment world, she didn’t fully grasp the power of celebrity until she witnessed Cruise being overwhelmed by fans.

According to People, she told the story of a time when she was 11-years-old and Tom Cruise was on the red carpet. She said, “He was walking in front of me, probably 10 feet in front of me on this red carpet. And all the fans were excited and he was waving and he got a little too close and his arm got sucked and then his entire body got sucked in to the crowd,” while at at Megacon in Orlando.

And that single moment stuck with her. Seeing an A-list star like Cruise get pulled away by fans in a frenzy was both fascinating and a little unsettling. “And I was like, ‘Is this because people love him?’ It was a really kind of weird moment, but not a bad moment, because Tom was right back at it. It was a very happy energy all around. But I think I saw that and was sort of like, ‘Steer clear.'” she explained.
