On August 20, Anne Hathaway and Stanely Tucci were spotted onset filming scenes together in New York City’s Central Park for the upcoming “The Devil Wears Prada 2” in new photos captured by Mega.
Hathaway will reprise her role as Andy Sachs, assistant to fashion magazine editor Miranda Priestly, and Tucci stars as fashion editor Nigel.
The pair sports all black in the onset pic, sparking speculation from fans that the characters are attending a funeral. One wrote on Page Six’s post of the shots, “Who died?!”
Another person exclaimed, “Can’t wait!”
Stanely Tucci Talked ‘Kinship’ With His Character
In a June 2025 “Cards On the Table” interview, the 64-year-old talked about the connection he feels to his “The Devil Wears Prada” character, Nigel.
“I think a character I played that I felt a kinship with would probably be Nigel,” he said, before going on, “I thought he was such a complex person. He was outwardly kind of mean to people. But he was sweet, and had a heart of gold.”
Tucci told Drew Barrymore in a 2025 appearance on her show that he met his wife, Felicity Blunt, through the life-changing role. When Barrymore mentioned Felicity’s sister Emily Blunt’s part in the film, Tucci revealed, “That’s how we met.
He said he attributes the huge success of “The Devil Wears Prada” to the fact that “it hit at the right time,” and also to Streep’s performance. “Just look at Meryl’s performance,” he said.
‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ Is Not the Only Upcoming Anne Hathaway Sequel
Anne Hathaway fans can rejoice as she will be making a big return not only for the fashion-centric follow up film with Tucci and Streep – she’s also slated to star in “The Princess Diaries 3.” The New York Post gave an update on the project back in June, saying the production team was “castle shopping” in Europe.
The outlet assured fans that the next installment of the beloved franchise, which started with “The Princess Diaries” in 2001, is “full steam ahead.” The report announced, “The creative team recently jetted to the Czech Republic to scout locations,” per a source the outlet says is “close to production.”
They say they didn’t get a response back after reaching out to Disney. Information about the project has been light since Hathaway’s October 2024 Instagram announcement about the sequel.
“The fairy tale continues,” she captioned the post, in which she surprised fans by holding up the number “3” with her fingers after showing clips of the first two films. She then quoted one of the movies’ iconic lines, saying, “Shut up!”
