It’s time for the curtains to come down. In news that has shocked fans more than Big’s death in season 1, the makers are ending “And Just Like That” after season 3. The decision wasn’t revealed until now. On Friday, Aug. 1, showrunner Michael Patrick King announced that the “Sex and the City” revival series will conclude with its current season, wrapping with a special two-part finale.
The Showrunner Explains Why Season 3 Is the Final Chapter
In a heartfelt Instagram statement, King wrote, “And Just Like That… the ongoing storytelling of the Sex and the City universe is coming to an end.”
He continued, “While I was writing the last episode of And Just Like That… season 3, it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop.
Along with Sarah Jessica Parker, Casey Bloys, and Sarah Aubrey, we decided to end the popular series this year with a two-part finale and extended the original series order from 10 episodes to 12.”
Why They Waited to Break the News
The team made a conscious decision to hold off on announcing that Season 3 would be the series’ last, aiming to protect the integrity of the story.
“SJP and I held off announcing the news until now because we didn’t want the word ‘final’ to overshadow the fun of watching the season,” King explained, referring to series lead Sarah Jessica Parker, 60.
A Final Thank You to the Fans

King concluded his message with gratitude for the loyal fanbase that’s followed the show — and its beloved characters — across decades.
“It’s with great gratitude we thank all the viewers who have let these characters into their homes and their hearts over these many years,” he shared.
The final two episodes of “And Just Like That…” Season 3 will air as a two-part finale beginning August 14 on Max.
