Alyssa Milano is mourning the loss of her “Charmed” co-star Julian McMahon, who passed away at age 56 after a private battle with cancer. The news of McMahon’s death was confirmed by his wife, Kelly McMahon, in a statement to Deadline on July 4th.

It’s never easy to forget a friend, and losing McMahon has been an emotional journey for Milano. She had also posted a heartfelt tribute on Instagram Friday night, alongside a series of throwback photos with McMahon. Her caption read:

“I’m heartbroken. Julian McMahon was magic. That smile. That laugh. That talent. That presence. He walked into a room and lit it up—not just with charisma, but with kindness. With mischief. With soulful understanding.”

She described how McMahon, who played her love interest Cole Turner on “Charmed”, made her feel safe, seen, and supported throughout their years on set.

“He made me feel safe as an actor. Seen as a woman. He challenged me, teased me, supported me. We were so different, and yet somehow we always understood each other.”

Alyssa Milano-Julian McMahon’s Went Beyond the Screen

While fans knew them as one of Charmed’s most iconic on-screen couples, Milano emphasized that McMahon’s impact on her life extended far beyond television.

“Julian was more than my TV husband. He was a dear friend. The kind who checks in. The kind who remembers. The kind who shares. The kind who tells you the truth, even when it’s uncomfortable—but always with love.”

She concluded with a message for McMahon’s family, adding:

“My heart is with Kelly, with Madison, and with Iliana—his girls, his world. He adored them. You could feel it in every conversation, every story, every text. He was a family man above all, and he loved deeply.”

“Losing him feels unreal. Too soon. Too unfair. Rest, my friend. I’ll carry your laugh with me. Forever Cole. Forever Julian.”

Charmed’ Co-Stars & Their Magical Legacy

Charmed originally aired on The WB from 1998 to 2006 and has since become a cult classic, now available to stream on Peacock and Netflix. Milano starred as Phoebe Halliwell in all eight seasons, while McMahon played Cole Turner, a half-demon who became Phoebe’s lover.

He appeared as a series regular from Seasons 3 to 5 and made a special appearance in Season 7.

Born in Australia, McMahon went on to become a well-known face in Hollywood. In addition to “Charmed”, he starred in “Nip/Tuck”, “Fantastic Four”, and “Runaways”. He is survived by his wife, Kelly Paniagua, and his daughter, Madison Elizabeth McMahon.
