Ken Jennings’s Heartfelt Tribute to Alex Trebek on His Birthday

After Trebek’s passing, Jeopardy had a series of guest hosts, followed by Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik sharing the role permanently for some time. Then, Jennings took over the role as the permanent successor to Trebek.
On the episode that aired on July 22, which featured 13-day champion Scott Riccardi, an engineer from Somerville, New Jersey, along with Paul Ryan, a print marketing general manager from Weymouth, Massachusetts, and Adriene Holland, a risk control manager from Powder Springs, Georgia, Jennings took a moment to pay tribute to Trebek.
After Riccardi earned his 14th win, Jennings ended the episode saying, “Happy Birthday, Alex.”
Alex Trebek’s First Jeopardy Rehearsal
Let’s take a trip down memory lane.
A video resurfaced of Trebek from a rehearsal before the Jeopardy pilot, and fans couldn’t get enough of this, reacting to the video on Reddit.
“This is a fantastic clip! Alex getting irritated at the little messups is hysterical,” one fan wrote.
“Amazing how 40+ years later, while there are some significant changes like the buzzing and values of questions, but mostly the show has kept the same format and is familiar to anyone who watches today’s version. Interviews after the first break, same Jeopardy/Double/Final format, Daily Double, music, ‘Jeopardy Champion’ etc. Technology changes are obvious as you’d expect,” another fan pointed out.
