Sandler made an Instagram post on July 22 to share his thoughts on Osbourne’s death. “Whether we were in our basements with our brothers, in the woods with our buddies, in the car, at a keg party, on a boat, at football practice, at a sleepover….” he began, before revealing that the best music to play on the speakers was “the one and only prince of darkness – Ozzy Osborne!”

He continued, “Loved him a lot like we all did! Sending love to the family, and so happy to have spent time with the legend himself. RIP.”

The Black Sabbath musician had performed a farewell tour at Villa Park in Birmingham, England, just three weeks earlier, but on July 22, his family announced the news of his death. Osbourne was 76.

“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love,” the family’s statement reads, Sky News reports. They also asked for privacy during this time.

Sandler’s post has only been up for a few hours, but has been liked over 600,000 times and has been flooded with comments from fans who share his grief and find Sandler’s tribute relatable. “I blasted “Mama I’m coming home” in my mom van when I lost my pops. He helped me cry it out. See you on the other side, Ozzy!! “ a fan wrote.

“We still blast his tunes forever & always.. Legend,” another person commented.

Fans have also remarked on the photo that Sandler used, which was taken from his 2000 film, “Little Nicky.” Osbourne made a cameo, which many fans remember fondly.

“One of the greatest of all time and also one of the greatest film cameos of ALL TIME,” a comment reads. “Time to watch Little Nicky again…” another fan shared. Others have stated that “Little Nicky” is one of their all-time favorite films.
