Florence Pugh Channels Grief and Grace in Yungblud’s New Music Video

Proving her versatility as an actress, Oscar-nominated Florence Pugh is now exploring the music world. This time around, she decided to team up with singer Yungblud in his latest single, “Zombie.” The “Marvel” star appears in the emotionally charged music video as a health worker. In it, she delivers a raw and powerful performance.

The video captures the toll of emotional exhaustion and grief for Pugh’s character. She is seen visibly seen in a very vulnerable state. This is seen in beautiful and haunting scenes, including one where she is wearing angel wings. Her portrayal of the character feels intensely human. It can clearly reflect the silent struggles of many frontline workers and caregivers who have sometimes or are currently dealing with physical burnout and emotional trauma.

Yungblud, who has never shied away from heavy themes, said the song was inspired by personal tragedy. “The song was written initially about my grandmother going through serious injury and trauma, leading her to become a different person to whom she was before,” he shared. “It’s about the feeling of deterioration and ugliness; shutting out the world and the people we love out of the fear of becoming a burden or an embarrassment.”

The 27-year-old singer added that “Zombie” is meant to resonate universally. He reminded people that “we all want someone or something to comfort us, no matter how we are right now or who we become in the future.”

Yungblud Brings Emotional Depth and Star Power

Yungblud had first teased the single during a surprise show in London back in March. The performance quickly went viral on TikTok, with fans eager to hear the released version. “Zombie” is the third track from his upcoming fourth studio album, “Idols,” which comes out June 20. He surprised fans further by announcing that Pugh would star in the video. Safe to say it was a move that generated buzz across all social platforms and music forums.

The album promises a new level of maturity in Yungblud’s songwriting. Known for his genre-blending sound and at times rebellious and infectious spirit, Yungblud, whose real name is Dominic Richard Harrison, has cultivated a devoted fanbase since his 2018 debut EP, “Yungblud.” His momentum continued with his debut album, “21st Century Liability,” the 2019 EP “The Underrated Youth,” and sophomore album “Weird!”

In 2022, he went on to release his third full-length album, “Yungblud,” which was a dedication to his original EP. That album reached No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart, No. 7 on the US Top Rock Albums chart, and No. 45 on the Billboard 200.

What’s Next for Florence Pugh?

Pugh recently wrapped up a global press tour for Marvel’s “Thunderbolts.” There, she reprised her fan-favorite role as Yelena Belova, building an even bigger fan base than she already had. She made headlines for performing a death-defying stunt by jumping off the second-tallest building in the world as part of the film’s action sequences.

The British actress is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon, though. She’s now set to star as Cathy Ames in a limited series adaptation of John Steinbeck’s classic novel “East of Eden.” The role promises to challenge her further as she tackles one of literature’s most complex and chilling female characters.

From red carpets to rock videos, Pugh continues to prove she can master any medium. Whether she’s leading a blockbuster or bringing emotional nuance to a music video, her presence remains magnetic and unforgettable.
