It’s Here! ‘Wicked Part 2: For Good’ Trailer Unleashes Magical New Details

The wait is finally over! “Wicked Part 2: For Good” is here with a brand-new trailer, and it’s already casting a spell over fans! The highly anticipated second chapter of the Broadway-to-screen adaptation was officially unveiled today, June 4, 2025. This after it made waves after a brief teaser was released yesterday on social media showing potential changes to characters. Safe to say it left fans eager to dive deeper into the magical world of Oz.

Following the enormous success of “Wicked Part 1,” which premiered in November 2024, expectations are soaring for the second installment. The first film quickly rose to the top of the box office, garnering praise from critics and audiences alike. Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo stunned with their portrayals of Glinda and Elphaba, wowing viewers with their emotional depth, powerhouse vocals, and undeniable chemistry.

A Deeper Dive Into the ‘Wicked’ Plot

“Wicked Part 2: For Good” will pick up right where the first movie left off. We saw how Elphaba (Erivo) literally defied gravity and disappeared from the Emerald City. Her departure marks a major turning point, setting the stage for the emotional and political fallout in the land of Oz. Jeff Goldblum returns as the enigmatic Wizard, whose true motives continue to unravel. All while Michelle Yeoh reprises her role as the cunning and manipulative Madame Morrible.

As Elphaba embraces her rebellion against the corrupt system, Glinda (Grande) chooses a very different path. Rather than risk her privileged status, she stays behind, aligning with those in power. This decision drives a wedge between the once inseparable friends. It creates a visible and emotionally tense rift between the two that becomes central to the film’s plot.

Fans can expect breathtaking visuals, sweeping old and NEW musical numbers, and heart-wrenching moments as both witches fight for what they believe is right. Even if it means standing on opposite sides of history.

Other characters who will make an appearance in the film are heartthrob Prince Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey), Boq (Ethan Slater), Nessarose Thropp (Marissa Bode), Pfannee (Bowen Yang), and Dr. Dillmanod (Peter Dinklage).

Special Screening and Release Date

Variety also went on to give a first look at the sisters, adding even more excitement for longtime fans of the franchise. “‘Wicked: For Good’ takes place years after the pivotal final scenes of the first film, in which Elphaba flies away from society while Glinda remains,” they wrote. “In movie two, we get to see the consequences of those choices,” says director Jon M. Chu. “The temperature is up.”

To celebrate the trailer’s release, Universal Pictures announced a one-night-only special screening of “Wicked Part 1” in select North American theaters. It was the perfect opportunity for fans to relive the magic and refresh their memories before the sequel hits theaters.

“Wicked Part 2: For Good” is set to premiere on November 21, 2025, just in time for Thanksgiving weekend. Mark your calendars! This is one spellbinding finale you won’t want to miss!
