Why Eminem Says Meta Owes Him $109 Million

Eminem is suing Meta for over $100 million. Read on to find out why the “Love the Way You Lie” rapper has filed a case against the social media mammoth.

Eminem Is Suing Meta for Using His Music Without Permission

A June 4, 2025 Rolling Stone Report says the 52-year-old hip-hop artist has filed a copyright lawsuit against Meta through his publishing company, Eight Mile Style. The suit claims Meta has “distributed the rapper’s music across its platforms without proper licensing permissions,” according to the story.

A People report, also published June 4, says the suit accuses the social media company headed by Mark Zuckerburg of engaging in the “unauthorized storage, reproduction and exploitation” of the 243 of the rapper’s songs across its various platforms.

The report says Eight Mile Style alleges Meta has employed various workarounds to illegally host Eminem’s work on its social media sites, including features such as Original Audio and Reels Remix.

The suit says these features “allow and encourage” Meta users to unlawfully feature the rapper’s songs in their content.

People, who says they have reached out to Meta for comment, reports Eight Mile Style is demanding a jury trial. The story says Eminem’s company arrived at the $109 million figure by requesting $150,000 for each of the 243 songs they say Meta has illegally used.

Eminem Just Celebrated the 25th Anniversary of ‘The Marshall Mathers LP’

The “Stan” rapper, who became a grandfather in April 2025 when his 29-year-old daughter, Hailie Jade, welcomed a baby, celebrated 25 years of his third studio album, “the Marshall Mathers LP,” at the end of May.

The star announced the availability of the project’s special 25th anniversary edition in an Instagram post which he captioned with some of his famous lyrics. “And since birth, I’ve been cursed with this curse to just curse / And just blurt this berserk and bizarre -that works,” he wrote.

He finished his message by letting fans know that the LP was available for the first time ever on colored vinyl, and promised orders would include “revamped packaging” as well as two live tracks from the entertainer’s 2000 VMA performance. An “exclusive poster” was another perk mentioned.

One fan was seemingly in disbelief at how much time has passed since the initial drop. “Wow! 25 years! Really!?” they wrote.

Another fan simply showed their appreciation for Eminem’s music, writing, “This is an amazing album.”
