Miley Cyrus makes her anticipated return. So do hip hop duo Clipse. Plus, BABYMETAL partners with Slaughter To Prevail for a face melting track. And yeule’s fourth album is every bit as trip hop as it looks.
Matt Berninger – “Get Sunk” (Album)
From The National to solo work, Matt Berninger manages to capture listless energy in a slightly more upbeat tone. The sophomore effort, “Get Sunk,” is every bit as fun as it is charming.
HAIM – “Take me back” (Single)
The sisters HAIM are raring up to release their new album. This week’s new track from “I quit” continues the theme of relationships but this time in a more reminiscent way as the lyrics recall the easy parts of being with another person.
Clipse – “Ace Trumpets” (Single)
The first new song to come from the Clipse duo – Pusha T and Malice – in 15 years feels simultaneously like a return to form and a modernization of where they were before. Pharell Williams produces a beat that is crunchy for the rappers to bounce off of. This single is from the upcoming new album “Let God Sort Em Out.”
yeule – “Evangelic Girl Is a Gun”
Coming off a hot performance on the John Mulaney hosted “Everybody’s Live,” yeule’s fourth album may look like it’s a dour amalgamation of darkness but it’s much more. The alternative pop is approachable and an enjoyable listen.
BABYMETAL x Slaughter To Prevail – “Song 3” (Single)
Japanese heavy metal meets Russian heavy metal. If you’ve never been one to listen to J-Pop, K-Pop or really any pop music due to it being overly sweet at points, then this is for you. On the other hand, if you enjoy that music, this is also for you. Seriously, just expand your horizons for three minutes. You’re going to have so much fun.
Miley Cyrus – “Something Beautiful” (Album)
The Queen Miley returns in album form after what seems like a short period of time. Two years after “Endless Summer Vacation,” the singer releases an existential pop opera album complete with interludes. Cyrus’s voice sounds better than ever as she opines topics like love, fame and humanity.
