The event was held at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, and many famous faces gathered to make it a memorable evening. But there was arguably one star of the show: Tyla.
Tyla Had a Big Night at the Kids’ Choice Awards 2025
South African-born singer Tyla has had a great year. In addition to hosting the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, she also took home the orange blimp for Favorite Global Music Star. The ceremony is known for its fun and energy, and 5,000 gallons of slime were waiting to be thrown on celebs and the audience.
Tyla was one of the stars who got drenched in green slime! But how did she feel about this happening to her while she looked glamorous onstage? In an interview with Parade, published on June 21, the “Jump” singer confessed that while she had been in rehearsals for the show, being covered in slime was not something that happened during the preparation process.
“I haven’t felt it yet,” she told Parade with a laugh. “So it’s gonna be a surprise. I’m not nervous. I’m excited low-key, but I’m just hoping it doesn’t blast me. Like, that’s the one thing I’m worried about, but I think it’ll be fun.” Her reaction was captured, and photographic evidence exists showing fans in the crowd enjoying the moment.
Other celebrities who were covered in slime at the awards include MGK, Jack Black, and the group KATSEYE. Kira Kosarin, and Jack Griffo also got slimed while accepting the Favorite Kids TV Show award.
Tyla Discusses Her Work on Soundtrack for the ‘Smurfs’ Movie
Tyla released a soundtrack, “Everything Goes With Blue,” in collaboration with Rihanna, Cardi B, and DJ Khaled for the upcoming “Smurfs” movie on July 18. In her interview with Parade, she reflected on the experience, saying, “It means a lot.”
Tyla continued, “You know, being on, like, literally, the ‘Smurfs’ is such a fun movie. I love the Smurfs and I’ve always wanted to have a fun type of soundtrack, so I think that one was really perfect. And, yeah, I don’t know, it’s just fun. I’m enjoying doing things like this, like Kids’ Choice, the Smurfs. I feel like the kids also need some Tyla!”
Rihanna was also honored at the Kids’ Choice Awards 2025 when she accepted the Icon Award and gave the cue to cover the audience in blue slime!
