Soap Opera Legend Susan Lucci Expresses Her Happiness for Beyoncé

On Feb. 2, 2025, Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” won Album of the Year. The win marked Queen Bey’s first in the category, which is considered the most coveted by fans and critics alike. The moment Beyoncé graced the stage to accept the gramophone was extra special because she had previously been nominated six times in the category.

As a result, many people equated the win to “All My Children” actress Susan Lucci’s 1999 Daytime Emmy Award win for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Lucci had been nominated 19 times before accepting her first and only win that year. In an interview with People to promote the new comedy play “My First Ex-Husband” she’s starring in, Lucci says that she was rooting for Beyoncé that night.

“I was watching when Beyoncé got her award,” Lucci said, according to People. “I did think about the fact that she had been long overdue.”

She added, “Certainly, I was rooting for her. I was so very happy for her.”

Beyoncé’s Album Of The Year Win At The 2025 Grammys Was History-Making

Beyoncé’s Album of the Year win for her eighth studio album “Cowboy Carter” marked the first time that a Black woman won the category since Lauryn Hill in 1999 for her groundbreaking album “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill,” according to the Recording Academy. That same night, Beyoncé won a Grammy for Best Country Album, which left her speechless.

“I think sometimes genre is a code word to keep us in our place as artists, and I just wanna encourage people to do what they’re passionate about and to stay persistent,” she said in her inspiring speech.

Beyoncé boasts 35 Grammys and 99 nominations, making her the artist with the most Grammy wins and nods in the show’s history!

She will across trek across Europe with several dates in London and Paris before heading back to the U.S. The Cowboy Carter will conclude on July 11, 2025. Fans are already getting their western attire ready to go!

Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour is the singer’s highest-grossing tour, raking in $579 million worldwide, according to Forbes. On Dec. 1, 2023, she released “Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé” in theaters, which gave fans a behind-the-scenes look in between live concert footage.

“It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done because of the short turn around time,” Beyoncé says in the film, according to American Songwriter. “I practically slept in the edit, color, and mix sessions. The race against time continued in order to get this film out so quickly. But it was so worth all the grind.”
