Super Bowl Ads Flooded with A-List Celebrities

For Chiefs and Eagles fans, Super Bowl Sunday may be all about the action on the field. But plenty of people tune in just to catch another world class competition: who has the best commercial? And this year, you can expect a star-studded lineup. Music artists, comedians, actors, reality stars, sports legends … You name it!

According to Nielsen, last year’s Super Bowl drew 123.7 million viewers. That is the largest TV audience on record. Every year, more people tune in to the Super Bowl than any other TV event, with Super Bowls from different years filling up all ten slots in the top ten list of most-viewed telecasts of all time.

Advertisers Paying Record Amounts for Super Bowl Commercial Spots

No wonder advertisers are willing to shell out big bucks to claim a commercial spot. Variety reports that FOX has sold at least ten commercials with a price tag of more than $8 million each. And those big price tags warrant big name stars appearing in the ads.

Here’s who you can expect to see:

Vin DieselMichelle Rodriguez and Ludacris will star in “Not So Fast, Not So Furious” for Häagen-Dazs ice cream.

Meta has its eyes on triple Chris’s to sell its Ray-Ban Meta glasses. Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pratt and Kris Jenner star alongside a banana. You’ll see.

Ben and Casey Affleck and “Succession” star Jeremy Strong will suit up in orange for this year’s version of the DunKings commercial for Dunkin’.

Temperamental celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay and comedian Pete Davidson will heat things up in outer space for HexClad cookware’s Super Bowl commercial.

MSC Cruises goes big for its first-ever Super Bowl ad, tapping Drew Barrymore and Orlando Bloom to appear and even getting Barrymore to sing.

Intuit TurboTax is teasing its commercial with actress Issa Rae, who says being in a Super Bowl ad was on her bucket list.

No Joke! Comedians Star in Super Bowl LXI Ads

When General Mills decided to shell out big money for a Super Bowl ad for the first time in more than a decade, the company tapped comedians Tim Robinson and Sam Richardson to bring the funny to its Totino’s Pizza Rolls commercial.

Stand-up comedian Nate Bargatze has also scored his first-ever Super Bowl commercial for DoorDash‘s DashPass.

Some Commercials Turn to Athletes Instead of Hollywood Stars

Angel Soft taps former New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman and sports commentator Charissa Thompson to get their Super Bowl advertising on a roll.

And FanDuel turns to brothers Peyton and Eli Manning to promote “The Kick of Destiny 3” video game. The brothers will even go the extra mile, going head-to-head in a kicking competition during the FOX Super Bowl Pregame Show.

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft has enlisted the help of legendary quarterback Tom Brady alongside rapper Snoop Dogg for the “No Reason to Hate” campaign by Kraft’s Foundation to Combat Antisemitism.

And football isn’t the only sport represented. Bosch will pay homage to late WWE star Macho Man Randy Savage in a commercial featuring actor Antonio Banderas.

And in an ad for Stella Artois, soccer star David Beckham raises a glass to some shocking news from his parents, or at least actors playing his parents.

The WNBA’s Sabrina Ionescu, Olympic track and field gold medalist Ryan Crouser and NFL wide receiver Randy Moss also appear in a minute-long spot for Michelob Ultra.

Celebrities Do Double-Duty in Super Bowl Ads

This year’s star-studded line-up even has some big names appearing in more than one ad, for more than one purpose.

Matthew McConaughey is serving up his Mike Ditka impression for Uber Eats alongside Charli XCX, Kevin Bacon, Greta Gerwig and Martha Stewart.

But McConaughey is also appearing alongside Woody Harrelson, Dennis Quaid, Billy Bob Thornton and Renée Zellweger in an ad to urge the Texas legislature to create film and television production incentives.

Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan Recreate Classic Movie Scene

Hellman’s Mayonnaise taps into nostalgia by enlisting Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan to recreate one of the most iconic movie scenes of all time: the deli scene from the 1989 movie “When Harry Met Sally.”

I’ll have what she’s having.

The who’s who list goes on. Also appearing in Super Bowl commercials this Sunday are Sydney Sweeney, Barry Keoghan, Hailee Steinfeld, Wanda Sykes, Walton Goggins, Timothy Simons, Post Malone, Shane Gillis, Willem Dafoe, Catherine O’Hara, Doja Cat, Adam Brody, Nick Offerman and James Harden.

Super Bowl LIX will kick off from the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans at 6:30 p.m. ET Sunday, February 9 on FOX.
