Selena Gomez Reassures Fans About Rare Beauty’s Future Amid Rumors

In a new interview with Women’s Wear Daily published July 29, the 33-year-old pop star and entrepreneur responded to growing online speculation about whether Rare Beauty could be on the market. “I think it’s important for me not to focus on the logistics, if that makes sense—for me and my personal well-being,” Gomez explained.

Selena recently released Rare Beauty’s first-ever fragrance, marking a full-circle moment nearly 15 years after her early scent collaborations during her Disney Channel days. But to her, Rare Beauty is much more than just another celebrity beauty line.

“I put my heart into it,” she said. “I work really hard, and I love our community, especially my fans. They have gotten me through all of the ups and all of the downs of life, and they are with me.”

Launched in September 2020, Rare Beauty has gained a loyal fan base not just for its inclusive product range but for its deeper mission. A portion of sales supports mental health initiatives through the Rare Beauty Impact Fund, a cause especially personal to Gomez.

The “Only Murders in the Building” star—who has been candid about her bipolar disorder and lupus diagnoses—made it clear that Rare Beauty is still growing.

“The future for Rare for me is just the fact that we want to continue to create products,” she told E! News in 2024. “There’s still so much more room, there’s still so much more places we could go.”

Rare Beauty’s CEO Also Shuts Down Rumors

Backing up Gomez’s sentiment, Rare Beauty CEO Scott Friedman echoed her commitment to the brand and dismissed any current sale plans.

“We haven’t made any decisions about any of that at all,” Friedman told WWD. “The rumors that have been out there have not been accurate. We’re focused on doing what we do best, and we have no idea how that will evolve in the future years.”

This isn’t the first time Gomez has addressed speculation about her role in the brand. At the TIME100 Summit in April 2024, she confidently reaffirmed her long-term vision for Rare Beauty.

“I don’t think I’m going anywhere,” she said at the time. “I am enjoying this a little too much.”

“This is my pride and joy,” she added. “I didn’t want to really enter the cosmetics world without a mission… and on top of it, we were able to make hopefully decent products.”
