One day after thousands of fans lined the streets of Birmingham, England, to honor him, Ozzy Osbourne was laid to rest in a private ceremony on Thursday, July 25. Family and close friends attended beloved Ozzy’s final farewell.
The Black Sabbath frontman, who passed away on July 22 at the age of 76, was buried on the grounds of his 250-acre estate in Buckinghamshire. His wife, Sharone, fulfilled his wish to rest near a serene lake on the property. According to The Daily Mail, a massive floral arrangement near the lake spelled out: “OZZY F—ING OSBOURNE.”

Birmingham Honors Ozzy Osbourne—The Prince of Darkness
On Wednesday, the streets of Birmingham were filled with devoted fans shouting, “Ozzy, Ozzy, Ozzy, oi, oi, oi!”. The procession passed by two iconic landmarks: the Black Sabbath Bridge and Black Sabbath Bench, where fans gathered to pay tribute. Both were unveiled in Ozzy’s hometown in 2019 to honor the band’s legacy.

Ozzy’s wife, Sharon Osbourne, along with children Jack and Kelly, walked together hand in hand, presenting a united front during the emotional public farewell.

Six vehicles carried the Osbourne family through the streets. The family funded the procession.

Back in 2011, Ozzy revealed his unique take on funerals in a letter published in The Times. “I honestly don’t care what they play at my funeral; they can put on a medley of Justin Bieber, Susan Boyle and We Are the Diddymen if it makes ’em happy,” he wrote. “But I do want to make sure it’s a celebration, not a mope-fest.”
He continued with characteristic humor: “I’d also like some pranks: maybe the sound of knocking inside the coffin; or a video of me asking my doctor for a second opinion on his diagnosis of ‘death.’”
Reflecting on life, he added: “It’s worth remembering that a lot of people see nothing but misery their whole lives… especially rock stars like me — we are very lucky.” “That’s why I don’t want my funeral to be sad. I want it to be a time to say ‘thanks.’”
