Pearl Jam’s Latest Release Features Songs, Music Video From a Popular HBO Show

The second season of HBO’s video game to television series adaptation of “The Last of Us” is shaping up to have one of the most successful seasons of 2025.

A game changing twist has set the series up for a complete overhaul. Pedro Pascal is the internet’s favorite person due to his emotional connection to main character Joel. Bella Ramsey has been thrust into stardom thanks to their portrayal of fan favorite character Ellie. Guest actors – including comedic actress Catherine O’Hara, Jeffrey Wright, and Kaitlyn Dever – have dominated headlines as they convert these iconic characters from digital code to real life.

Even the soundtrack is getting a lot of love as viewers dissect what songs mean as they’re featured in the show or how the composers explain their creation process for the show’s music.

One band, though, is taking their place in the “The Last of Us” universe much more seriously.

Zooming In

Pearl Jam released a four track compilation of music featured in the show.

Additionally, the band released a new music video for 2013’s “Future Days,” which was released on the studio album “Lightning Bolt.”

The video features graphic design from artist Paul Ribera whose work essentially takes place entirely in illustrations drawn in an iPad app. The “Future Days” music video tells the love story of a fisherman and lighthouse keeper.

The description of the music video features the lyric “If I ever were to lose you/I’d surely lose myself.”

The Last of Us Part II” features Joel playing “Future Days” to Ellie as the two take a break early on. An episode in the second season of the show – which is modeled after the game – sees Ellie singing a single line of the song.

Extended Play

The other tracks include “All or None” from 2002’s “Riot Act” as well as “Present Tense” off of 1996’s “No Code.”

The EP also features a live version of “Future Days.” Pearl Jam lead singer Eddie Vedder performed the song at the 2020 Game Awards.

A limited edition 12-inch vinyl of the EP is set to be released via the band’s website.

Pearl Jam is currently on a US tour with their latest album, “Dark Matter.”
