Ozzy Osbourne’s farewell show ended with a family surprise that left fans smiling.
Just weeks before his passing at 76, the Prince of Darkness responded with trademark humor when his daughter Kelly Osbourne was proposed to backstage.
Ozzy Osbourne’s Hilarious Reaction to Kelly’s Backstage Proposal
On July 5, Osbourne took the stage one final time with Black Sabbath at Villa Park in Birmingham, England, for “Back to the Beginning,” a tribute show marking the band’s farewell. Surrounded by family—including daughter Kelly—Ozzy performed while seated on a gothic throne, delivering an electric set to more than 40,000 fans.
But the night’s most unexpected moment happened behind the scenes, when Kelly’s longtime boyfriend Sid Wilson, of Slipknot, dropped to one knee. In a video posted to Kelly’s Instagram, the intimate scene unfolded just after Ozzy’s monumental performance.
“Kelly, you know I love you more than anything in the world,” Wilson began. Ozzy—ever the showman—quickly interrupted with perfect comedic timing: “F— off, you’re not marrying my daughter!”
The joke sparked laughter from everyone present, including Kelly herself. Wilson continued his heartfelt proposal, saying, “Nothing would make me happier than to spend the rest of my life with you,” before presenting the ring. Kelly said yes, prompting a round of cheers from their family, including Ozzy, Sharon, and Jack Osbourne.
A Bittersweet Milestone Before His Passing
The proposal marked a joyous moment in what would be one of Ozzy Osbourne’s final public appearances. On Tuesday, just over two weeks after the concert, his family confirmed his death at 76 following a long battle with Parkinson’s disease and other health issues.
“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” read a statement from his family. “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”
Osbourne had revealed his Parkinson’s diagnosis in 2020 and retired from touring in 2023 due to spinal injuries from a 2018 fall. Still, he returned to the stage for one final show that reunited Black Sabbath’s original members—Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward—for the first time since 2005.
Kelly, 40, and Sid, 48, first met in 1999 through Ozzfest and began dating in 2022. They welcomed their son, Sidney, later that year. Reflecting on her father’s health and legacy in a recent interview, Kelly said, “My dad is not the way he used to be, since the Parkinson’s and surgeries and everything that happened. So I dedicate my life to spending as much time with him as I possibly can. He’s also, like, my best friend.”
With the farewell concert behind them and a new engagement ahead, Kelly Osbourne now carries the joyful memory of her father’s unforgettable response to a moment that changed her life.
