Rock Legend Ozzy Osbourne Passed Away at 76 – He Will Be Missed

Legendary rock star Ozzy Osbourne has passed away at the age of 76, The Guardian reports

“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time,” his family said in a statement to the outlet.

Osbourne’s death comes just over two weeks after his last performance with Black Sabbath, called “Back to the Beginning” in Birmingham, England. He was joined by guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler , and drummer Bill Ward, with the group playing live together for the first time in 20 years.

The family has not disclosed a cause of death.

In January 2020, Osbourne announced that he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, and he spoke about his condition on SiriusXM’s Ozzy’s Boneyard earlier this year.

“I have made it to 2025. I can’t walk, but you know what I was thinking over the holidays? For all my complaining, I’m still alive,” he said. “I may be moaning that I can’t walk, but I look down the road, and there’s people that didn’t do half as much as me and didn’t make it.”

And his wife Sharon Osbourne added that in February 2023 that “he’s great and it doesn’t affect his voice.”

“He wants to say thank you to everybody,” she said. “He didn’t have that chance because of his illness, but now he does have the chance.”

That was the reason for his farewell concert.

“It’s my time to go Back to the Beginning….time for me to give back to the place where I was born,” Osbourne said in a February social media post before the show. “How blessed am I to do it with the help of people whom I love. Birmingham is the true home of metal. Birmingham Forever.”

However, Osbourne had to perform while sitting in a leather throne because he was unable to walk or stand.

From 1969-79, Osbourne was the front man for the legendary rock band Black Sabbath. However, in 1979, he was fired from the band due to his substance abuse problems. He then began his solo career with 13 platinum albums along with earning the nickname “Prince of Darkness.”

There is no denying his impact on the music industry, and his music will always serve as a reminder of his incredible career.
