Madonna revealed a darker hair color on her Instagram story Sunday as a tribute to her late mother, according to People.
The Queen of Pop shared the images of the brunette locks and wrote, “I missed my Mother so I channeled her…” underneath the first post. It is unclear whether the “Material Girl” singer dyed her hair or was wearing a wig.
Her mother, Madonna Louise, died in 1963 at the ago of 30 when the singer was just 5-years-old.
The Singer Previously Described the Pain of Losing Her Mother
The 66-year-old spoke about losing her mother at such a young age in archival clips that were used in the Sky documentary “Becoming Madonna,” according to a People article from January.
“It was just the greatest event of my life. It was like a part of my heart was ripped out,” Madonna said about the difficult loss.
She described how she had to grow up faster, the outlet reported.
“I was forced to grow up fast and understand my mother’s death, to understand the psychological, all things that were going on,” Madonna continued. “It was too much for a child I think.”
Madonna wrote in a lengthy 2023 Mother’s Day Instagram post, she didn’t think she would become a mother due to the heartache she experienced from losing hers.
“I miss my mother every day And have fantasized for decades of what it must be like to have a mother to: call on for help, guidance, care And wisdom,” Madonna wrote, “and yet I rejected the idea of being a mother well into my 30s because I associated motherhood with sacrifice suffering and ultimately death and I wanted none of that.”
She continued by expressing how grateful she is for each of her children. “I’m happy that their souls chose me to be their mother,” Madonna added.
Madonna Celebrated Mother’s Day With Her Kids
The “Vogue” singer has a total of six children: Lourdes, Rocco, David, Mercy, Stella and Estere. She celebrated this years Mother’s Day by sharing a series of images and a heartfelt message about being a mother.
“I spent Mother’s Day weekend with 5 of my 6 children. Sunshine laughter, horseback riding. soccer, and the sound of music!” she wrote. “The best gift they gave me was the gift of not arguing and being loving to one another.”
“Motherhood could never be described with a few words,” Madonna added. “Nothing can prepare you. Happy Mother’s Day !! To All the Women out there doing the Heavy Lifting !”
