After years of playing it kinda lowkey, Lorde is stepping back into the spotlight; and she’s not doing it halfway. Yep, the alt-pop music queen of wistful bangers and poetic melancholy just dropped major news: she’s going on a world tour this fall. And not just any tour — this one’s called the “Ultrasound World Tour,” which, let’s be real, already sounds like it’s going to mess with our emotions in the best way.
If you’ve been waiting for a reason to put on glitter, scream-sing your feelings, and be surrounded by other people doing the exact same thing… this is it.
The Epic World Tour Stops
Kicking off September 17 in Austin, Texas, the “Ultrasound World Tour” will hit 13 cities across North America, including stops in New York, Chicago, Nashville, Los Angeles, and Seattle. Then she heads to Europe in November, with shows in Paris, London, Berlin, and more before wrapping in Stockholm on December 9, according to People. Basically, this fall is booked solid.
Depending on the location of each stop, Lorde will be joined by openers like Blood Orange, The Japanese House, Nilüfer Yanya, Chanel Beads, Empress Of, Jim-E Stack, and Oklou. It’s less of an opening act situation and more of a handpicked emotional buffet. And we’re here for the range.
You might be asking, “How can we see the show?” Well, tickets drop in a presale on May 14 at 10 a.m. local time (according to the tour page of Lorde’s website), with general sales starting May 16. You already know these are gonna go fast.
The New Album is Wild
“Virgin,” her next album, lands June 27 and it’s not playing around. The cover? A blue-tinted X-ray of a pelvis (seen below). The vibe? Complicated, personal, and full of duality. According to Pitchfork, in a fan newsletter, Lorde described the record as “raw, primal, innocent, elegant, openhearted, spiritual, masc.” It’s a mouthful… in the best way.
We already got a taste with the lead single “What Was That,” and it’s got that late-night, headphones-on energy she nails every time. If “Melodrama” was crying in the bathroom and “Solar Power” was healing in the sunlight, “Virgin” might just live in the in-between; messy, moody, and strangely comforting.
So yeah, Lorde’s coming back. And whether you’re there for the catharsis, the synths, or just to feel something again, this tour is looking like the main character moment we’ve all been waiting for.
