Leonardo DiCaprio popped up on the Instagram page of a hip hop icon in a June 11, 2024 post. The “Titanic” actor spent time with rapper Rakim, also known as “The God MC.” Rakim shared a photo of himself sitting at a table with the 50-year-old actor.
Rakim is known being the driving force behind the transformation of hip hop from “relatively straightforward rap flows with simple rhythmic patterns” to “a level of complexity that had never been heard before,” according to Exposed Vocals.
DiCaprio was incognito for the occasion in a black ball cap paired with a simple all-black ensemble consisting of a jacket and tee shirt. He accessorized with a gold necklace. The “Guess Who’s Back” rapper was more festive, sporting a maroon bowler hat with a matching blazer and satin red shirt and tie combo.

Rakim’s meetup with the film icon may have taken place directly after Monday night’s BET Awards, as he was pictured in the same outfit he wore for his performance with Mariah Carey. The pair performed “Type Dangerous” the same night the “All I Want for Christmas Is You” singer received the show’s Ultimate Icon award.
“Wow this means so much. Really. It really means a lot, especially coming from BET,” she said in reaction to her win.
She went on to point out, “I heard this is actually my first BET award. And I mean, if you’re gonna get one, might as well start with the Ultimate Icon Award!”
Carey also shouted out Busta, who presented her with the award, declaring her love for his song “Baby If You Give It To Me.”
Rakim Reacted After MTV Star Ananda Lewis Died June 11
Hours after sharing the snap of his night with DiCaprio, the MC added an update to his Instagram Stories to highlight a clip from Ananda Lewis, who famously hosted Teen Summit and was a Veejay during MTV’s heyday.
WPGC Radio announced Lewis died at age 52 of breast cancer complications.
“Ananda Lewis final message about prevention of C*ncer,” he captioned the video, which showed Lewis urging people to check out hear feature in the January/February 2025 issue of Essence to find out what the former host of the short-lived “The Ananda Lewis Show,” which was derailed by the September 11 terrorist attacks, wishes she had done differently.
“It doesn’t matter how bad things are in my body right now. What matter is keeping you out of this club,” said the star.
She also told people free of “any big diseases” to consider it “like a winning lotto ticket.”
