Pop icon Katy Perry made one young fan’s dream come true during her June 26 show in Adelaide, Australia, when she invited 12-year-old Keegan Powers on stage for a high-energy dance moment that quickly went viral.
Powers first became an internet sensation in March after showing off his impressive dance skills at a Dua Lipa concert in Melbourne. His passion for performing led to a feature on the Australian news program “The Project,” where he revealed his biggest dream — to dance on stage with Perry herself.
“I would really, really, really love to dance with Katy Perry on stage,” Powers said during the interview.
Making Dreams Come True
That dream became reality when Perry, 40, brought Powers up in front of a roaring crowd. In a video shared by Glam Adelaide, the singer encouraged the boy to introduce himself. “Tell everybody who you are! You’re a star!” Perry said.
“I have been dreaming of this moment since literally the day I got tickets, and I have so many people that can prove that. And I’ve been messaging Katy on Instagram since Oct. 1 of last year. I love Katy Perry!” Powers proclaimed.
Keegan Powers Lights Up the Stage with “Swish Swish” Routine
The former American Idol judge prompted the young fan dance to her 2017 hit “Swish Swish.” Powers then made the stage his own, delivering an energetic routine packed with flips, handsprings and splits.
“Adelaide, I feel like you have a star on your hands,” Perry told the audience. “Make some noise for this incredible young man.”
Keegan’s mother later commented on the Instagram post, writing, “This is my son and what a amazing lady Katy Perry is for making his dream come true absolutely incredible moment for him and us as a family proud❤️❤️.”
His father, Kieran Powers, also reflected on his son’s natural flair for the spotlight. “He’s always been this confident. Probably ever since he could walk and talk, he’s just up dancing and screaming and he just never stops.”
The heartwarming moment took place during the Australian leg of Katy Perry’s global “The Lifetimes Tour,” amid reports that she and her longtime partner, actor Orlando Bloom, have split after nearly a decade together. The couple share one daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom, and are reportedly moving forward amicably as co-parents.
According to the “Firework” singer’s official website, the highly successful tour began in April in Mexico and is scheduled to conclude in December in Abu Dhabi.
