Kacey Musgraves INJURED in Mexico

Kacey Musgraves hasn’t been the most accident-free when it comes to traveling and now she’s had to reschedule shows due to an incident.

On June 18, 2025, Musgraves was in Mexico, she posted an Instagram story — and an X-ray — on June 20, explaining why she wouldn’t be able to fly soon.

A Broken Rib Forces Musgraves to Reschedule Nashville Show

“Sooo I’m in Mexico with a [expletive] broken rib,” she began her post. “Wednesday night it was raining and I was running to grab some towels and had an extremely hard fall on some very slick tile I didn’t see. Thankful I didn’t smack my head but I landed very very hard on my back left ribcage and I broke rib number 6. This [expletive] is no joke. I’m in a lot of pain and doing ANYTHING is extremely difficult but I’m managing and being well taken care of.”

“There is no physical way I can get on a plane and fly back to Nashville for the Sing for Science event with Paul Stamets at Ryman Auditorium,” she continued. “I am extremely bummed to have to reschedule as I have been looking forward to this for months but there is literally no other option. I’m so sorry for the inconvenience.”

“New date: Thursday, 9/18 – Tickets for 6/22 are valid for 9/18,” she added. “Fans have up to 30 days if they can’t make it to the new date. Visit Ryman.com for more information.” Sing for Science also reposted her story on their page.

This isn’t the first time that Musgraves injured herself. When she was on Late Night with Seth Meyers in September 2024, she talked about going to Ireland by herself a week before her tour began there.

“Within 15 minutes of stepping foot on this island, I eat complete [expletive],” she says. “And so, I have this, like, catastrophic bike wreck. My knee is totally messed up.”

Kacey Musgraves Has Her Own Experience With Magic Mushrooms

In February, Kacey Musgraves had first posted about the Sing for Science event, and was stoked to talk to Stamets about magic mushrooms. “Holy shiitake,” she wrote on Instagram. “My (celium) dreams are coming true! I love Paul Stamets and I will be fully geeking. No chill whatsoever.”

In the past, Musgraves has spoken quite candidly about magic mushrooms. She felt that they helped her deal with her pain after her marriage imploded. She even went on a seven-hour, guided magic mushroom trip.

“I did it with a doctor friend here and her husband. It’s called plant therapy,” she told The Guardian in 2021. “It’s been looked at in a lot of areas for help with depression, anxiety, addiction, so many things. Basically, some neuroscientists [from Baltimore’s Johns Hopkins University] have created a playlist that’s music from all over the world, put together to guide you, in that state of mind, through different emotions, feeling memories, whatever.”

The result was the “Star-Crossed” album and accompanying one-hour film starring Eugene Levy. We’re glad this conversation between Musgraves and Stamets is being rescheduled.
