Justin Bieber Abruptly Changes His Name

Justin Bieber is one of the most followed people on the Instagram platform. Naturally, this is due to his legion of fans who are anxiously awaiting news of a new single or album. However, the pop superstar recently shocked his more than 29 million followers when he changed his name. 

Of course, it’s not uncommon for people to change their names on social media. It’s often a fun way to express oneself. However, fans of celebrities usually think the action means a bit more, perhaps even signaling the beginning of a new musical era for Justin Bieber, who hasn’t released a new studio album since 2021’s “Justice.” 

Justin Bieber’s New Instagram Name Has Fans Shocked

According to Page Six, the “Yummy” singer changed his Instagram handle on June 26th. Now, instead of his handle being @justinbieber, it’s @lilbieber. Notably, Justin Bieber’s Instagram name has been the same for several years, making it easier for his fans to find his official page. 

Currently, Justin Bieber has yet to explain the meaning behind changing his name on Instagram. It’s worth noting that his display name on the platform remains the same as it has always been, which is simply Justin Bieber. 

Despite the singer not explicitly naming the reason for the change, there are hints at what it could mean. On June 2nd, Justin Bieber posted black-and-white photos of himself holding his 10-month-old son, whom he shares with Hailey. The caption of the post reads, “Lil Bieber.” 

The caption for the post also included emojis, displaying a basketball and a lock. Currently, his other social media platform, X, still features his name as the handle. 

The Singer Could Be Working on New Music

Many fans took Justin Bieber’s change of his Instagram name to mean he has new music on the way. Notably, some fans also joked that he may be trying his hand at rapping due to him adding the “Lil” to his name. 

Additionally, Billboard reported in January that Justin Bieber may be in the process of recording new music. The outlet points to the fact that he uploaded a picture of himself singing into a microphone with headphones on as proof.

That’s not all. He shared a recording of a demo track on social media days before the previously mentioned picture. Currently, it doesn’t seem that Justin has a manager in place as he recently parted ways with Scooter Braun.
