Jennifer Lopez, host of the 2025 American Music Awards, kicked off the night with a show-stopping opening performance that had the audience on its feet.
Starting with a snippet of her 2012 hit “Dance Again,” the “Hustlers” star quickly launched into a tightly choreographed medley celebrating some of the biggest hits of the past year.
With her trademark energy and charisma, Lopez danced to chart-topping songs like Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” Charli XCX and Billie Eilish’s “Guess,” Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things,” Tinashe’s “Nasty,” Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” and Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control,” among others.
A Daring Moment on Stage
Lopez’s performance was filled with stunning vocals, impressive choreography and some seriously headline-worthy moments. At one point in the set, Lopez kissed both a male and a female backup dancer, thrilling the audience and sending social media into a frenzy.

A Night Packed With Stars
As both host and performer, Lopez set the tone for an evening honoring some of music’s biggest names. Alongside her, the night features performances from legends like Janet Jackson, who is receiving the Icon Award, and Rod Stewart, who is being recognized with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Additional acts include Benson Boone, Blake Shelton, Gloria Estefan, Gwen Stefani, Lainey Wilson, and Reneé Rapp. Leading the nominations is Kendrick Lamar with 10 nods, followed by Post Malone with eight, and Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, and Shaboozey, who each earned seven.
The 2025 American Music Awards are airing live on CBS at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT, with streaming available on Paramount+ in the United States.
