Halsey Shares Brave Selfie with Medical Port Amid Health Battle

More and more stars are opening up about the parts of their lives that go far beyond the glamour of red carpets and fame. They take pride in bravely sharing their health journeys and personal struggles with fans.

Halsey is the latest to offer that kind of honesty, posting a candid look at their ongoing treatment and life behind the scenes.

Opening up about their ongoing health journey, Halsey gave fans an unfiltered glimpse into life offstage. On Sunday, June 22, the singer, 30, posted a candid Instagram selfie showing a medical port in their chest. Their photos were taken while they were on the road for their “For My Last Trick” tour.

Halsey Shares Personal Glimpse of Life Offstage

In the photo, Halsey (who uses she/they pronouns) is seen standing in what appears to be a hospital bathroom mirror. Wearing a white tank top with the port visible on their chest.

“Evidence that I still exist when the show ends,” the Colors singer wrote in the caption. “90s mom haircut loading 🌈.” Halsey’s fiancé, Avan Jogia, left an airplane emoji in the comments.

The post included a total of six photos. Among them are a makeup-free selfie of Halsey smiling, a sweet moment with their 3-year-old son Ender Ridley Aydin, and a behind-the-scenes shot while getting hair and makeup done.

The artist also shared a cozy clip showing Jogia’s feet as they relaxed together watching TV.

Halsey’s Health Journey

In June 2024, Halsey revealed they had been diagnosed with Lupus SLE and a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder back in 2022.

“Both… are currently being managed or in remission; and both… I will likely have for the duration of my life,” Halsey shared at the time.

“After a rocky start, I slowly got everything under control with the help of amazing doctors,” they wrote. “After 2 years, I’m feeling better and I’m more grateful than ever to have music to turn to.”

Living with Lupus and T-Cell Disorder

Lupus is an autoimmune condition that causes the immune system to attack healthy tissue, potentially affecting the joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart, and lungs, per the Mayo Clinic.

There is currently no known cure. T-cell lymphoproliferative disorders, according to Healthline, involve the overproduction of white blood cells called lymphocytes, which can lead to conditions such as leukemia and lymphoma.

Honest Updates for Fans

In September 2024, Halsey also shared on X that they had been hospitalized after suffering a seizure.

“I’m home from the hospital now after a few days, so a win is a win!” the star updated fans later.

For now, Halsey continues to keep it honest, balancing life on tour while offering fans a genuine, human glimpse into their healing journey.
