Green Day Fan Plays Oasis Song Instead of ‘Good Riddance’ in Hilarious Onstage Mishap: WATCH

No bad blood here? It sure looks like there isn’t, and we appreciate humor and friendly rivalry for that! Green Day and Oasis are two iconic bands that have defined rock music for decades, each with their own unmistakable anthems and legions of fans they’ve gained throughout the years.

Green Day, formed in 1987, exploded in popularity with albums like “American Idiot,” “Dookie,” “21st Century Breakdown,” and “Nimrod,” to name a few. The latter features the timeless hit, “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life),” which quickly became a go-to finale for their concerts, thanks to it being iconic and well-written. It’s also become a bittersweet, sing-along favorite that pops up at graduations, weddings, and, yes, even funerals.

Oasis, the British rockers led by the Gallagher brothers, skyrocketed to fame in the ’90s with albums like “(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?,” which happened to be their second studio album. Their iconic song “Wonderwall” is arguably one of their best signature tracks of all time. It has also been a staple at open mics and karaoke nights worldwide since its release in 1995.

So, when these two rock legends share the stage, well, things get interesting.

A Fan’s Hilarious Switcheroo on Stage

At Green Day’s June 30th show at Luxexpo Open Air in Luxembourg, the band did what they often do. They usually invite a lucky fan to join them onstage to play guitar during their final song, “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life).”

But this fan had other plans.

As Billie Joe Armstrong began singing the opening lyrics of “Good Riddance,” the fan started strumming the chords to… wait for it…“Wonderwall.”

Caught off guard, Armstrong quipped, “You told me you could play this one!” before glaring at the guitar-playing imposter. When the fan kept strumming the wrong tune, Armstrong exclaimed, “Oh, fu**k me!” and promptly took back his guitar. All in good humor of course, folks. This moment wasn’t about rivalry, rather about hilarious, viral magic.

The crowd erupted with laughter and applause, loving the unexpected twist. Security gently escorted the fan offstage as Armstrong shook his head, saying, “Nice try.”

The entire moment was captured on TikTok, quickly going viral for the sheer audacity and humor.

Even Liam Gallagher Weighs In on ‘Wonderwall’

Adding fuel to the fun, Oasis’s own Liam Gallagher caught the clip online and chimed in on X (formerly Twitter), calling it the “Best song of the night.” Talk about good sportsmanship.

Fans on social media had a field day, too. One joked, “The guy just earned a free ticket to Oasis,” while another cheekily posted, “Today is gonna be the day that Billie takes the guitar away,” riffing off “Wonderwall”’s famous lyrics.

The playful moment highlights the camaraderie and friendly rivalry between these two legendary bands, each with hits that continue to resonate with fans around the world.

So while that fan may not have played the right chords that night, they certainly hit a high note in concert history. Proving yes, sometimes the best moments come from a little unexpected mischief.

If you enjoyed this, share it with your friends next time you hear someone start strumming “Wonderwall” at a party! You never know what might happen!
