A Tennessee woman was stunned and delighted to discover she had unwittingly purchased a rare pair of boots identical to a design that has been worn onstage by Grammy-winning pop superstar, Chappell Roan.

On the afternoon of February 28, 2025, the mother of five and grandmother of one tells EntertainmentNow she rushed into Dillard’s department store searching for something to wear to a Mardi Gras themed charity event that evening.

The woman tried on shoes for over an hour, and almost gave up before a pair of shimmery block heeled boots lying on the floor caught her eye. She spontaneously grabbed them, having no idea they were the “Olympia Colorblock Metallic Boot” from Circus NY by Sam Edelman. The design was seen being sported by the superstar onstage in a September 2024 Instagram photo posted by the brand.

The surprised woman only discovered the famous connection to the boots after googling them because she felt nervous to wear something so flashy.

The woman, who did not want her name publicized, said she received dozens of compliments on the boots at the event, and had a full circle moment when the DJ coincidentally played the Chappell Roan song “Pink Pony Club” on the dance floor.

The boots are currently unavailable on the department store’s website, and were the last pair left in the store when she was inspired to grab them at the last minute. She said she doesn’t know much about Chappell Roan, but several of her children are huge fans.

Chappell Roan’s Real Name

Chappell Roan’s real name is Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, the pop princess revealed to Cherwell.org in an August 2022 interview.

The “Hot To Go” singer told the U.K. based student newspaper that she “never felt super connected” to her birth name.

The pop sensation went on to give the story behind why she adopted the name of her grandfather, who she thanked in her Grammy acceptance speech.

“My grandfather’s name was Dennis K. Chappell, so I took Chappell in his honor,” she said, adding that she promised to use his name as he was dying of brain cancer.

She explained that “Roan” was inspired by her grandfather’s favorite song, a tune called “Strawberry Roan” about a pink-hued horse.

Roan said the song is very sentimental to her, before adding, “I do still wish my name was not Kayleigh in real life, though.”

Chappell Roan’s Grammy Wins

Roan had a huge night at the 2025 Grammy Awards, taking home the trophy for Best New Artist and stealing the show in a riveting performance of “Pink Pony Club” in which she incorporated the clown motif she has become known for.

Roan was also nominated in five other categories, including Album Of The Year and Song Of The Year, according to Grammy.com.

While a herd of hardcore fans has followed her journey to the top, many casual observers don’t know that Roan has toiled for years, releasing music for almost a decade, to become a household name.

She released her debut EP, “School Nights” in 2017, according to Pop Crush. Roan told the website at the time that she just wanted to be seen and understood as a genuine person, adding, “I’m not trying to do anything that anyone else has done.

She went on, “I want to do what I think sounds good. I dress the way I like to dress and write what I like to write. I just want people to know that all of this really happened, and this is how I feel.”
