Fletcher Surprises Fans With Unexpected Love Life Reveal

Fans love Fletcher’s gut-wrenching, emotional songs about heartbreak just as much as they adore her sexy, upbeat tunes. Whether she’s fantasizing about how hot Becky is or singing with Kelsea Ballerini about a “Better Version” of herself, it’s easy to relate to her raw honesty.

Fletcher, real name Cari Elise Fletcher, has been very open about her sexuality and her identity as a queer musician. She’s refused to put herself in a box, but also admitted she has a type. “I am attracted to strong feminine energy which just so happens to more likely than not be women, hahahahaha,” she told Out Magazine.

With the release of her most recent single, “Boy,” the singer is revealing that she fell in love with a man. And she’s just as surprised as everyone else.

Fletcher Addresses the Disappointment Fans Might Feel Over New Single ‘Boy’

“There will be people that feel disappointed and feel confused and have questions,” Fletcher told Rolling Stone about her new single. “Girl, I had questions and I was confused too. It shocked me just as much as anybody else.”

“That is the most magical feeling in the entire world,” she said, referring to falling in love again. “I met a boy who is somehow way more connected to his feelings and his emotions and his heart than even I am.”

“I had met a boy and started feeling romantic and emotional feelings and we kissed,” she explained further. “I was like, ‘What the [expletive] is going on?’ My whole world felt flipped upside down.”

She knows her fans will be surprised. She wants to assure them that she’s still “so proud to be queer. That is not something that has ever wavered or changed.”

“I’ve always written about my love stories and my heart and very candidly written about what I’ve been experiencing. ‘Boy’ is just another love story. ‘Boy’ is just one revelation of many. It’s not an album about a guy.”

Fletcher Opens Up About Healing Journey and Falling in Love

Doctors diagnosed Fletcher with Lyme disease in 2023. In her interview with Rolling Stone, she acknowledges that dealing with — and recovering from — her illness changed her perspective. This new lens she found herself looking at her life through, not surprisingly, left her more open.

“[I] went through a really intense healing journey which allowed me to pause. I started having so many questions about my career and my purpose,” she said. “I think through allowing myself to ask those deeper questions about this fixed dream I thought I would always be chasing, my heart opened in a way I wasn’t expecting, and I fell in love with a boy.”

‘Boy’ is featured on her third album, “Would You Still Love Me If You Really Knew Me?” It will be released on July 18.
