Eminem Recalls Dangerous Fan Encounter with His Daughter

Eminem is considered one of the greatest rappers of all time, and now he’s getting vulnerable in a new documentary. Called “Stans,” the film features interviews with some of his fans and explores the sometimes complicated relationships that exist between artists and the people who love their work.

According to PEOPLE, Eminem opens up in the documentary about the time he was mobbed and happened to have his daughter, Hailie, with him. He said in the film, “I remember one time me and Hailie went to the mall in L.A., it was the last time I went to the mall as me. Like, not disguised.”

He continued recalling the dangerous encounter by saying, “Every store we went in, we come out and there’s a bigger crowd, a bigger crowd, a bigger crowd. It got to the point where I was like… I picked her up and I was like, ‘C’mon, kiddo. Time to go.'”

Eminem then said, “It literally felt like I was being chased out the mall. That was one of those moments when I realized, like, my life really has changed. I can’t do this anymore because I’ve got to protect my baby. So that was a scary moment. It was scary for her, too. I asked, and she doesn’t remember it.”

Eminem Surprised Fans at a Screening of the Documentary

Eminem’s documentary, “Stans,” will arrive in select theaters on August 7. According to TMZ, the “Lose Yourself” rapper surprised fans at a screening in New York on August 6. Specifically, the screening took place on The Rooftop at Pier 17.

He spoke to the sold-out crowd and revealed how the song the documentary is named after changed his life as well as the millions of fans who have discovered it over the years. Throughout his talk, Eminem had to pause several times as fans chanted, “I Love You.” Graciously, he said it back to them.”

As mentioned, the Eminem documentary features interviews with fans. However, it also includes never-before-seen footage.

The Film has been in the Works for over a Decade

Eminem’s “Stans” documentary is releasing in AMC theaters on August 7. However, it has been in the works for a dozen years, as they’ve been filming interviews with fans. According to Billboard, Steven Leckart, known for “The Day Sports Stood Still,” directed the film.

The film was produced by Eminem as well as his longtime manager, Paul Rosenberg. It highlights 20 diehard fans of the rapper as they share the emotional connection they have with his music and legacy. It comes in at 103 minutes and will only be in theaters for a limited time.
