In one of the most delightful and yet very unexpected pairings of the year, country legend Dolly Parton has teamed up with rock icons Mötley Crüe! Yes, the queen of country has once again ripped a page from her “Rock” book. She has joined one of the most iconic bands alive.
For a brand-new version of their 1985 hit, “Home Sweet Home,” the pair reimagined a new piece of work, giving it that similar twist. Yes, you read that right; Parton’s signature Southern twang now graces the glam-metal anthem. The result? As epic as it is heartfelt!
‘Home Sweet Home’ Ft. Dolly Parton
“It was an honor and a joy working in the studio on Mötley Crüe’s 40th Anniversary re-release of ‘Home Sweet Home,’” Parton said in a press statement. “I was so pleased that they would ask me to sing on such a classic.”
The unlikely but totally amazing collaboration is part of Mötley Crüe’s upcoming compilation album “From the Beginning,” out September 12, 2025. The release also marks the launch date for the band’s 10-show residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas. The band is promising a wild ride of hits, pyrotechnics, and lots of headbanging.
What is so special about the duet is that it carries a deeper meaning for both parties. A portion of the proceeds from the single will go to Covenant House. It’s a nonprofit that offers shelter and support to youth experiencing homelessness.
“For an icon like Dolly Parton to sing on a song that has not only meant so much to us but to all the fans through the years, is a career high that means a lot to us,” Mötley Crüe said in a joint statement. “That we were able to unite with Dolly to raise awareness for homeless youth and the amazing work of Covenant House… makes it even more special.”
A Country Star and Rock Legends Collide
In case you’re new here, Parton is an American national treasure. Yes, she’s an 11-time Grammy winner and songwriter behind classics like “Jolene,” “9 to 5,” and “I Will Always Love You.” She’s also a businesswoman, philanthropist, author, entrepreneur, and recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee. This despite her initial hesitation after initially saying, “I don’t feel I have earned that right.” The actress was inducted in 2022 thanks to her versatile talent and, believe it or not, rock and roll spirit. Have we forgotten her 49th studio album? Yes, 49!
“Rockstar” was released back in 2023, featuring a variety of big rock musicals. It marked her first album to lean into that specific genre. The album features Ann Wilson, Sting, John Fogerty, Kid Rock, Joan Jett and The Blackheads, Steven Tyler, Miley Cyrus, P!nk, Elton John, and so many more. So sure, it was only fitting that she was inducted.
Mötley Crüe, meanwhile, is one of the most notorious bands in rock history. Formed in Los Angeles in 1981, the group, Tommy Lee, Nikki Sixx, Vince Neil, and Mick Mars (now replaced on tour by John 5), helped define the sound and…let’s call it debauchery…of ’80s metal. The created hits like “Girls, Girls, Girls,” “Dr. Feelgood,” and, of course, “Home Sweet Home.”
This new version featuring the icon will serve as track 21 on “From the Beginning.” It spans the band’s greatest hits along with new songs like “Dogs of War” and “Cancelled.”
What’s Next for Dolly Parton? Hint: It’s Broadway, Baby
Dolly may be strumming electric guitars with the Crüe now, but her boots are headed to the stage, literally. Her autobiographical musical, “Dolly: An Original Musical,” premieres in Nashville in July 2025 before aiming for a Broadway debut in 2026. The show announced its stellar cast a few weeks ago, with fans excited about the show, waiting to see what new songs Parton has penned.
Whether you’re a diehard Dolly fan, a “Crüehead,” or somewhere in between, “Home Sweet Home (featuring Dolly Parton)” proves that the bridge between Nashville and Sunset Strip is paved with pure rock ‘n’ roll gold.
And honestly, who wouldn’t want Parton to be the voice welcoming them home?
