Doja Cat Reacts to Her ‘Brave’ Oscars Performance

Doja Cat is brushing off criticism and focusing on the positive after her musical performance at the Academy Awards received mixed reviews.

The “Kiss Me More” songstress took to social media to maturely respond to her critics, showing her gratitude for the opportunity in an Instagram post. “Thanks to the Academy Awards and Vanity Fair for having me. I never get to sing like that and what I did was brave and scary for me.”

The star went on, “I know a lot of people didn’t like it but a lot of people did and I feel good that I pushed myself.”

The singer, who performed a rendition of “Diamonds Are Forever,” continued, “The song is a classic and I put a lot of work into it but the nerves got to me.” She conceded that she “hit some flats.”

“I can’t wait to do something like that again. What a blessing that was. I feel amazing about the whole thing,” wrote the star. She signed off, “Bye,” along with praying hands a heart.

Doja Cat quickly added one more thought in the comments of her post: “Also ALL the girls chewed down last night. God BLESS them all. Absolutely gorgeous performances from everyone.”

The post received over a million “likes.”

Celebrities and Fans Supported Doja Cat

The “Go To Down” hitmaker received plenty of support in the comments of her post from fans and celebrities alike.

Even Beyonce’s mother, Tina Knowles, “liked” the post.

One fan wrote of the star, “She must be tired because she never stops slaying.”

“You did amazing regardless! You stepped out of your comfort zone and we have always loved you for that!” said another.

Model Ashley Graham wrote, “Girl you KILLED THAT! I got CHILLS.”

Raye, who shared the stage with Doja Cat for part of the performance, supportively said, “I’m very proud of you.”

Doja Cat Showed Love for Oscar Winner “Flow”

Doja Cat called director Gints Zilbalodis’s “Flow” which took the prize for best animated feature in a surprising upset.

The Hollywood Reporter pointed out that the underdog film, which Doja Cat called “my favorite movie of all time,” was made on a modest budget of $3.7 million, compared to the $200 million budget of competitor “Inside Out 2.”

Doja Cat said she loves the movie because “it’s a story about friendship.”

The popstar has been known to be a cartoon lover, even professing to have a “crush” on a character from “A Bug’s Life.”

In June 2021 while answering fan questions, Doja Cat was asked if she had ever had a crush on an animated character.

“I have like, 30 or something,” said the songstress before naming Hopper specifically. “He does things to me,” she hilariously said.
