Was Dave Shapiro Flying the Plane?
As of publishing, it has not been officially confirmed who was flying the plane that crashed with Dave Shapiro and drummer Daniel Williams inside.
However, Sky News reports that Shapiro held a pilot’s license and was listed as the owner of the plane, per the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration).
Four others also perished in the crash, which left no survivors.
The report says the plane crashed into a neighborhood in San Diego, and three of the people on board were employees of Sound Talent Group, which Shapiro cofounded.
The agency’s statement on the incident reads:
“We are devastated by the loss of our co-founder, colleagues, and friends. Our hearts go out to their families and to everyone impacted by today’s tragedy.”
Dave Shapiro’s Wife Julia Has Not Publicly Reacted
Shapiro was married to Julia Shapiro. She has not yet made any public statements or reacted on social media to David Shapiro’s death. Julia appears to be an avid equestrian judging by her Instagram feed, which is filled with horse pictures, including one of the blonde beauty and one of the animals proudly posing with a blue ribbon.

“7 years,” she wrote, punctuating the simple caption with a black heart emoji.
After Dave Shapiro’s May 22 death, some fans took to the comments of the post with attempts to comfort the new widow.
“Praying for you, love. I’m so sorry for this grand and tragic loss,” wrote one.
“My heart hurts for you. I’m so deeply sorry for your loss,” said another.
A third fan exclaimed, “So so so sorry.
Who Did Dave Shapiro Manage?
Top clients of Sound Talent Group include Canadian pop-punk group Sum 41, rock band Story of the Year, and metalcore group Parkway Drive.
Artist Shane Told of the band Silverstein posted an emotional message on his Instagram Stories grieving the talent manager’s death and recalling how he watched Shapiro work his way up in the entertainment industry.
“This is incredibly sad to write. We lost one of the best people ever,” began the musician. He continued, “I watched Dave go from drummer and merch guy to entrepreneur and one of the most important people in the industry.”
He called Shapiro “first and foremost a friend,” and said “all he wanted was to see his friends succeed and have a good time doing it.”
