TMZ reported on June 15, 2025 that the younger child of Cher had been rushed to the hospital. The pop diva’s 48-year-old son, Elijah Blue Allman, suffered a drug overdose in the early morning hours of Saturday, June 14, per the report.
On June 16, 2025, E! News reported that Allman’s ex, Marieangela King, released a statement after Allman’s incident, saying he has faced “personal challenges” in the past. Her statement went on to say, “One constant has been his unwavering commitment to sobriety and his loyalty to those he loves. Like many, he continues to confront his inner struggles—but it is important to recognize that he does so from a place of strength, not defeat.”
The incident occurred in Southern California, and Allman was transported to hospital in Joshua Tree, according to the story.
The outlet says they don’t know exactly which drugs caused the overdose, but that it was a close call. In fact, the story says Allman is “lucky to be alive.”
The “Believe” singer shared her son Elijah Blue Allman with Gregg Allman of the Allman Brothers band, who died in 2017 at age 69.
Cher shared her older son, Chaz Bono, with her ex-husband Sonny Bono, who died in 1998 after hitting a tree in a ski accident. Cher married Gregg Allman four days after finalizing her June 26, 1975 divorce from Bono. She divorced Allman in 1979, according to People.

Around the time of her divorce filing, the artist told People, “We had a beautiful 13-year journey, filled with memories I’ll always cherish. Cher Previously Sought Financial Conservatorship Over Son Elijah Blue Allman
A People report published in January 2024 said Cher had filed legal paperwork seeking a conservatorship over Allman which alleged he was “substantially unable to manage his financial assets.”
The outlets says the documents also claimed a conservatorship was necessary to protect Allman’s property from “loss or injury” and cited “severe mental health and substance abuse issues.”
Cher revealed in the filing that her son was receiving payouts from a Trust Fund, but she was concerned if they continued, they would “be immediately spent on drugs,” putting Allman’s safety in danger.
Rolling Stone reported on September 14, 2024 that Cher had dropped her conservatorship petition after a lawyer said at a hearing that “the parties have privately resolves this matter.”
