Cardi B Sets September Release Date For Her Highly Anticipated New Album

Cardi B released her ground-breaking debut album in April of 2018. Since then, the rapper has released several singles but has left fans waiting for a full-length project. Now, Cardi B has finally revealed not only the name of the upcoming album but also when the world can finally listen to it. 

Ahead of the new album announcement, Cardi B released her first single, a song entitled “Outside.” In it, she seemingly raps about her much-talked-about breakup from Offset, with whom she has two children. 

Cardi B’s New Album Comes Seven Years After the First

Cardi B took to her official Instagram page on June 23 to announce her brand-new album. Entitled “Am I The Drama?,” the album cover features Cardi B wearing a red outfit complete with a headpiece to match. There are also two birds in the background of the artwork. 

Cardi B’s “Am I The Drama” album will be released on September 19 via Atlanta Records. The announcement also states that there is a link in her Instagram bio to preorder it. 

Notably, Cardi B’s announcement came roughly 20 hours after she posted on Instagram to tease the information. She did so by posting a short video of herself discussing the seven-year hiatus. Cardi used the caption, “TIMES UP. I got an announcement to make tomorrow.” The video ended with a countdown. 

So far, the video of the rapper announcing her new album has garnered over one million likes and roughly 36,000 comments, indicating considerable excitement. According to Variety, Cardi B had also recently told her fans that she had turned the body of work over to the record label after having finished recording. 

Her First Album Gives Her Big Shoes to Fill

As mentioned, Cardi B’s new LP comes after an unusually long wait between debut and sophomore releases. Since then, the rapper has released several singles, including “UP” and the 2020 global hit “WAP.” She has also featured on several other artists’ songs since her initial success in the music industry. 

Her first album, “Invasion of Privacy,” was preceded by the Billboard number one hit, “Bodak Yellow.” Notably, the song remained at number one on the chart for a stellar three weeks. It has since been certified diamond, which indicates 10 million units sold. 

Cardi became a Grammy winner in 2019 after taking home the trophy for “Best Rap Album” at the 61st annual ceremony. As a result, considerable hype surrounds her upcoming LP.
